Old college friend has been married to a doctor for years and has only worked a couple of jobs in that time. No kids, she’s a thoracic surgeon...they live well. He plays golf every morning, and cooks and cleans the house every afternoon. His wife isn’t much to look at, but cool as shite.

I know a guy in Alabama who married a woman who inherited a company and runs it. He dabbles in real estate when he gets bored. Other than that he hunts and fishes at will.

Whoa, we might know the same guy. Forgot about him, but the guy I know also came from a bunch of money so not really a kept man.

If I was to be a kept man, she would have to be rich. I mean obscenely rich and not care what I spent. Reality is, that's not reality. So no, I wouldn't let anyone control me unless they were a real OT 10 (not those odd women with huge hips y'all post) and ultra rich. And even then, I would probably break the leash after a few years.

I am not a kept man as my wife and I make about the same annually, but she does have a fairly large trust fund that will fund our kids' college and our retirement. So I guess I'll be a kept man when we retire, though I have my own retirement accounts.

I’m curious to know if being a kept man is all it’s cracked up to be. Seems to me that men, in general need purpose, something that drives them, even if its a really crappy job. I imagine it may be hard for a man to find real purpose either being a slug or working a job that contributes very little financially or has no real value. There is surely a certain amount of depression that comes from being a kept man.

Have I had the opportunity? Yes I passed on it. She was too clingy. Wanted way too much attention.

I’ve had a few opportunities and each time the girl had the personality of wet paper. What’s the point if you aren’t with someone fun?

Why would a dude do this? You hand over all dignity, freedom and self respect.

My wife owns her own company. I stayed at home with the kids for about 8 years. And yes, it's hard to do. However, my daughter had issues in school and if one of us hadn't been at home, there's NO WAY she ever would have graduated. Frankly, if someone had been at home, she'd be dead or in jail.

I went back to work full time outside of the business 4 years ago. It's fulfilling, but I feel like that Eddie Murphy joke about Johnny Carson's wife every time I get a pay check: here honey, just put it with the rest!

I am a made man, but that's pretty much all I can say about it.

I guess I should have clarified that each girl just had much higher earning potential than me. I couldn’t ever just not work period and stay at home.
