Some would change their tune quickly if that “one life “ was theirs 
Still don’t understand why people can’t understand that the government and health officials don’t know any better way to slow it down at this point. I mean, nobody likes the way things are, I get it, but damn sometimes things need to be done that are not “I do what I want or makes me feel good “ for the good of society as a whole

And I would argue that what we are doing right now is not "good for the society as a whole". In fact it's the exact opposite.

Well that’s your opinion . A lot of experts don’t agree with you but that’s ok too. For me, I don’t want to be exposed if I can help it until we know more about it

The funny thing is that you have people that are Pro-Lifers saying, "Let the old people die rather than kill the economy". And you have Pro-Choicers saying, "We have to save everyone we can regardless of the cost to the economy."

Those experts are focused on the very, very small percentage of people actually impacted by this disease from a medical standpoint.
Their bias is clearly on saving lives. As it should be. But this bias cannot drive national policy to the detriment of the vast, vast majority who will not be medically affected by this virus.
Saving one life to bankrupt ten is not the answer.

If you’re honestly making a constitutional argument, while not observing that there is no Federal stay at home order, just a bunch of states that have one, I encourage you to read the 10th Amendment.
Federal Congress has yet to enact a single law to restrict our lives in regards to Coronavirus.
FWIW I agree that the Commerce Clause gets absolutely abused.

You sound like someone still receiving a paycheck. Go ask the people who are unemployed and can't pay their mortgages / rent what they think. Ask the people who are going to risk running out of food for their families, if they don't start earning an income again soon, what they think. At some point those people are going to get sick and tired of the "if it saves one life crowd" and they are going to act out. You might want to worry about some of those people coming for you instead of worrying about catching COVID-19.

Well , that very very small number keeps growing by the day . I am sure China, Italy etc feel very differently and the families involved . I mean , there was a link in another thread from Jamie Howard on his experience and what he didn’t get to see “upstairs” with more serious patients and his description of how bad the hospital situation is. I mean, the government has to do something to try to buy time til there is a vaccine

I am receiving a check. Wife job is iffy at this point. There are jobs out there to get buy if it is that bad ( although I don’t think it will be that long ). A lot of people are going to be bringing home more than they were working , which will be a rallying cry of DEMS come election time of the high unemployment when in fact , some will ride this as long as they can. Look, I feel bad for everybody affected by this financially and medically and don’t know what the answer is but I don’t think it can be “just go about your lives like normal” either for a little while . Then the government would be criticized for not doing anything when healthcare can’t keep up. You sound like someone who has not had a friend Or relative affected by this yet

And yet it still remains a very very small number and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future even at the current growth rates. Certainly far lower than the number lives severely impacted by the “cure” that’s being implemented.

I’m sure the families that have lost their small businesses, that won’t be able to afford to put food on the table for their kids, that have to watch their loved ones unable to receive routine medical procedures because they’ve been cancelled, etc. all feel the same.
I’m also sure the numbers of those families far outweighs the number impacted by coronavirus. And that number will continue to grow at an even bigger rate as normal life continues to be shutdown.

Cry us a fricking river. I’m sure the people that suffer serious injuries from the 35,000+ motor vehicle accidents have sad anecdotes to tell about that experience too. Why haven’t we made operating motor vehicles illegal yet to placate that group?
