The stupidity of every part of this exercise is almost incomprehensible.
The shooter deserves life in prison or the death penalty and every single officer/manager who had anything to do with approving this exercise needs to be fired

Alright everybody calm down. It was an accident. We all have accidents and make mistakes in one form or another. Also, the lady was 73. She didn't really have that much longer anyway. Her friends and family have had her for 73 years. That's more than a lot of folks so seems like there isn't much loss there

Unless the shooter loads his own gun, on what planet should he get the death penalty. From what I understand, room clearing exercises with blanks/other forms of training guns are relatively common. As there is no danger, civilians are used as real hostages to simulate dead weight and people having panic attacks.
Obviously someone fricked up, and that person should be held accountable for the death of the woman, but it's also a training accident.
