I used to work with a guy in BR that raised peacocks as pets. Strange but true.

and humanely killed.

Is that illegal?

They have it buried in other statutes. They do have a vague “insofar killing of animals” listed as cruelty. I’m guessing that’s what they are trying to use.
But “for food” is probably a legit defense.

I get it if he tied it to his truck bumper and drug it down the road.
Otherwise?
Otherwise?

White or dark meat?

Wonder how long you would have to boil them damn things to get them tender enough to eat?

if youve ever been around a peacock, let alone two peacocks, you know the temptation to strangle them is pretty hard to resist. not only are they assholes, they call all fricking day

Did he kill them humanely? They are basically large, annoying chickens.

Maybe he was trying to grow that eye back.

Just a fancy turkey really

Why was the neighbor feeding the birds? I wonder if there was some thought of neglect by the neighbor? If the birds weren't being fed properly, and they could prove it by the condition of the rest of them, they'd have a charge. The story is light on details.

He had written the neighbor a letter telling her that he would continue to kill his pet peacocks if she kept feeding them “to prove a point,” according to the affidavit, which didn't say how many peacocks he kept.
The man “admitted to killing the bird by cutting the bird's neck out of SPITE, then bleeding it out, and then later eating the bird after cooking it on a frying pan,” the affidavit said.
Like the Florida man version of Larry David.

Sounds like this guy has some serious mental issues going on. Probably better for society if he isn't among the rest of society.

Okay... why'd she keep feeding them?

Why would they be tougher than any other bird we eat? They dont really fly much at all. I’m guessing it’s something close to chicken or turkey.
