Well, finally some good news out of Florida
Florida man unavailable for comment.

Boy had learned algebra by age 4

He can't vote. He's not even old enough to drive. But William Maillis already has a college degree.
quote:
"I am totally fascinated by William and the work that he has done," Dr. Tonjua Williams, president of St. Petersburg College, told CNN affiliate Bay News 9. "He's extremely brilliant, very open and collaborative."
quote:
William started college in 2016 after graduating high school at age of 9. His parents say he was always on the "fast track." By the age of 2 he was doing simple math and by 4 he learned algebra.
quote:
"Everybody has gifts from God. I was gifted with knowledge and science and history,"
quote:
So what's next? He plans to continue his education and will begin classes next month at the University of South Florida.
quote:
"I want to be an astrophysicist," William told CNN affiliate Bay News 9. "I want to prove to the world that God does exist through science."
quote:LINK
His goal is to complete his doctorate by the time he's 18 -- the age many people are when they begin college.

Looks like Florida put all of their smarts into this one kid, instead of spreading it around...
...it would explain a lot.

How does something like this even happen? There's what, 6-8 years of grade school math before they get to algebra on the curriculum? He must be one of those kids that just picked up books and learned it on his own. I can't imagine any parent realizing their kid's a genius and putting them on the path to learn algebra by age 4.

Yeah, I'm wondering if you really have one of he smartest kids in the world, is the best course of action really sending him to get a useless associates degree at a shitty junior college then continuing studies at a mediocre directional type state school, all before he's 18.
Seems like patience here may have paid off on something a bit more meaningful.

A student's aptitude is far more important than the academic reputation of a school. Brilliant students can succeed just about anywhere.

Study condensed matter (materials), chemistry, biology,..something more applicable than astronomy...I mean if you want to get somewhere. Proving God exists through science...IDK how manage that. This kid's parents have to be some mixed nuts.

Associates not a 4 year bachelor's...not that it makes it any less impressive.
I'd honestly be worried about this kid's social development when accelerating him so quickly. Social intelligence isn't something you can't read in a book or take test on.
