I actually went down in the tunnels and burned bus before it all got cleared out. It was so much smaller than it seemed on tv. I guess it’s as disappointing as the Alamo.

I live in San Antonio and can count on one hand the number of times I've been to the Alamo. Historically significant, of course, but there's so much else to do in town that's more fun.

I guess I was fortunate to know the history before my first visit. Also my first visit was several decades ago in the middle of December so very few visitors. It got to me in a gut wrenching way. I still get that feeling when I think about it. We also visited four other churches of the same age that weren't in San Antonio and two of them had the feeling of history.
I've been back three times.

The Alamo is very much a letdown.
Try the missions for some real history.

My daughter lives there. Visited last year, tried to get a room for the night...all booked. Finally found a Super 8 south of town...$549 for one night!
Later found out it was this fixer-upper thing...I'd never heard of it.
Daughter found me a spot at a friend's house. Ironically it had been a fixer-upper house.

Title is misleading. It should say "Reality TV Show attraction". Nobody would stop there if they weren't reality stars. People from around the US come visit the Monroe/West Monroe areas to see the Duck Dynasty stuff too.
I thought people were going to visit something that a couple was restoring, because the restoration was interesting.

Was really disappointed in the Astrodome when I visited in the 70's. It had been called, "The Eighth Wonder of the World for a decade. It looked tiny. Guess it was because of seeing the Superdome first. Should have visited Texas 10 years earlier.

I enjoyed the Alamo as a kid. But the John Wayne Alamo movie Alamo in Bracketville was really cool.
