So where's the best place to go, or website to go on to apply for a passport? I see lots of different sites bragging about how fast they can get it to you, I just need to apply. Not really in a rush. Thanks

If you're in New Orleans go to the main post office on loyola and bring a passport photo from Walgreens. If you go when the open you'll be done in 30 minutes

Go to the USPS website & find which post office locations near you accept applications. Complete the application & bring it with you, along with your passport photo & a certified copy of your birth certificate. It’s an easy process.

Do not use an online service. The same department of state processes all passports and there isn't ANYTHING a company can do special to get yours expedited any faster.

In Baton Rouge the post office at Bluebonnet and Perkins is good. Passport photos have to be just right. I've used Fed-Ex stores a couple of times. As said above, get your photo first and bring it.

Don't smile in your passport photo.

You still have to wait for the state department to send it to you. The last time I renewed, I remember there was an optional fee you could pay to get in the front of the line.

In Houston you can go to any public library and use the library website to get in line while you are on your way. They will also take your picture for an extra fee. It was a really easy process and got it in less that 4 weeks.

Why do people think that ordering something through a company that then orders it through the government would be any quicker than ordering it from the government yourself?

Never understood why people say this.

I was smiling in mine and have had no problems.

They can get it faster than people in a small town or something that can't go to a place like the NOLA post office in person and get it in two days but they charge outrageous fees for it.

they say that because it is the state departments rule. It only recently started allowing small smiles.

Your anecdote means nothing
