its a bit creepy to find this OK regardless of gender.

19 yrs old is a college freshman with a 8th grade/ HS freshman

their ages are only 1 year off from the Karl Malone shite (20 yr old Karl Malone, 13 yr old girl), do people think that was fine bc Malone wasnt her coach or boss?

Another question: how did the parents not know something was going on if she was over at their house 3 times a week?

Obviously he can make a case. The law is the law. I really just can't get on board with calling this rape. I had a gf in high school that lied to me about her age, and it could have gotten me a statutory rape charge if her parents had wanted to pursue it. Having sex offender status for something like that shouldn't happen IMO. Our gap wasn't anywhere near as big as this one, but still.

In the NY Post story that was linked, it says this:

quote:

The athlete is charged with distributing material harmful to a minor and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor while under the age of 21.

Kitiona, who isn’t in custody, was issued a summons to appear at an upcoming court hearing on June 6.

Notice that they did not use the word "rape". She has not been arrested. She has merely been summoned to appear in court on a specific date.

It sounds to me like they are treating it more like a traffic ticket.

Register as a sex offender.

That's another thing diluted by absurdity.

Romeo/Juliet, bus mooners and dumpster pissers have no business being on such a registry.

The charges may not be as severe as you think.

This is what the story in the NY Post says:

quote:

The athlete is charged with distributing material harmful to a minor and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor while under the age of 21.

Kitiona, who isn’t in custody, was issued a summons to appear at an upcoming court hearing on June 6.

No arrest. No time spent in jail. Just show up in court on the appointed date. Pretty much the same as getting a traffic ticket.

I was responding to the idea she may be put on the registry. That would be awful.

You needed a babysitter when you were 14?

Maybe Dad was getting some extra on the side to keep quiet about it.

Let’s be honest, at 14 there isn’t a damned one of us who would turn that down, and probably last all of 5 seconds while we’re at it.

But would have been ready and willing to go again 30 seconds later.

Started dating my wife when I was 18 and she was 14 and my mother in law was ok with it if I was treating her with kindness and respect. I dont see this as a huge deal.

19 and 14 isn't big enough of a gap for me to get riled up over. Also, the snippit doesn't indicate she was in any position of authority over him. Don't care.

Oh you’d care a whole bunch if your daughter was 14 and the guy was 19, lol.

It’s creepy. When I was 18 I wasn’t looking at 14 year olds. I understood that was off limits. It may have worked out but doesn’t mean it should be the norm. You’d would have had a major problem as my son doing that. Leave her be and return in 4 years.

I'd be pissed if my 14yr old daughter were getting frisky with anyone. Of any age.

This is rape though. And people also claim pedophilia on people older than 14.

Don't say anything about Epstein...

It is a wee bit more than that. In Utah the crime she is charged with is a felony, but her being under the age if 21 at the time reduces it to a Class A misdemeanor, which is punishable by 364 days in jail and/or $2500. The 364 avoids it meeting a lot of disclosure requirements (though not sexual registry), which often require disclosure of a felony or any conviction where the offence could have incarceration of a year or more. In some states, it also shifts the incarceration from state prison to county jail.

The statute specifically covers rape, forcible sodomy, object rape, forcible sexual assault, and attempted of any of the previous when the victim is between 14 and 16.
