I’ll skip the first part but about MacArthur, the Japanese disagree.

I'd venture to say that the Japanese were more afraid of Nimitz and Halsey than dugout.

MacArthurs biggest mistake was the Korean War but if truth be told he wanted to finish off the Koreans but he was ordered to stop before he could and that allowed China to send troops into North Korea and this stop the US.

Imagine what the Middle East and Asia would be like today if we had actually won all of Korea.

Most people don’t understand this comment because they are too dumb to look at history. FDR created government jobs to give people employment. It was needed at the time because of the depression but between doing that and the biggest profit machine ever, WWII, we pulled out of the depression. LBJ and his great society were social experiments. Don’t get me started on social security.

The common theme in each of these presidents policy was government funded support for the poor. There is a healthy balance but both of these went to the extreme and had no end game in sight.

Retired Soldier here.

The U.S. Navy won the war in the Pacific. Period. Dugout Doug was not going anywhere unless the U.S. Navy put him there.

bullshite, this is false.

He was told multiple times that the Chinese were right over the border ready to strike and he didn't fricking listen.

It's almost precisely why he was canned by Truman.

Oh, and MacArthur performed horribly both of those wars primarily due to his ego. He was at his best in WWI.

FDR did what he had to do to get us out of the Depression. Would you have stick with Laissez Faire economics and just let the bottom fall out? I think MacArthur was alright but as someone said the Navy did a lot for him. The OT will probably disagree with me but I think his plan to nuke China was retarded.

You are correct with this statement but he implemented policies and strategies that worked for getting us out of the depression but we are still dealing with expanded versions of those policies. None of which were designed to continue or last as long as they did. Those same policies are literally bankrupting this country today.

Say what you want about FDR but he is responsible for a lot of the social economic differences have today. LBJ doubled down on them to speed up the process.

FDR kept us in the Depression much longer than we should've been.

The fact we probed over the Yalu river and approached China was what provoked them to come in. MacArthur had lost his fastball and believed his own demigod status.

Too much time was spend MacArthur wrangling in WWII
He was a handful and FDR and Truman made numerous cracks at his expense

Sounds like the people who came after him should have shuttered his policies then. He was dead by that point anyway. I agree on LBJ he was a terrible president
