That's probably what raised the original suspicion for the investigation. Then they noticed the increase was tied to the immigrants who were getting visas.

The perps didn't really think this one through...

And then classifying all of the crimes "armed robbery" wasn't too smart. Throw some thefts and assaults in there, at least. They would have still gotten caught eventually with an abnormal amount of crimes against immigrants in such small municipalities.

I’m guessing that the sphincters of sheriffs and deputies around the State and country have swollen shut waiting to see how far this goes. I doubt very seriously that this is limited to some small towns in central Louisiana. There’s no way that this guy Patel is the only one out there doing this.

The fact that arrests were made at the convention makes me think the agencies were sending a message to all in attendance.

It has to be one of these:

quote:

Abduction
Abusive Sexual Contact
Blackmail
Domestic Violence
Extortion
False Imprisonment
Female Genital Mutilation
Felonious Assault
Fraud in Foreign Labor Contracting
Hostage
Incest
Involuntary Servitude
Kidnapping
Manslaughter
Murder
Obstruction of Justice
Peonage
Perjury
Prostitution
Rape
Sexual Assault
Sexual Exploitation
Slave Trade
Stalking
Torture
Trafficking
Witness Tampering
Unlawful Criminal Restraint
Other Related Crimes*†
*Includes any similar activity where the elements of the crime are substantially similar.

†Also includes attempt, conspiracy, or solicitation to commit any of the above and other related crimes.

Typically you can fit armed robbery under felonious assault or attempted felonious assault depending on if the person was hit/shot or just held at gunpoint.

You would be surprised how much a certain population tends to target the Hispanic population in these areas. They know they typically have tools that they can pawn and get paid in cash so carry large amount of cash with them, and that the Hispanic population is unarmed since they can't purchase guns. Very easy targets.

Looks like all four cops have more in common than playing the graft and corruption game, they must all go to the same barber.

Chandrakant Patel, is accused of orchestrating a decade-long immigration fraud scheme involving fake police reports and U-visa applications.

quote:

The U visa is a nonimmigrant visa available to victims of certain crimes who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity. It provides temporary legal status in the U.S. for up to four years, work authorization, and a pathway to lawful permanent residency after three years.
Eligibility:

pt. The spotlight isn't on them and the shite that goes on is crazy. The parish I am from, when they still had a police jury instead of a parish president, councilmen used to get parts of their new houses build on the tax payers dime.

Reporting isn’t required it’s on a volunteer basis… if a small town not requesting funds from the state or feds for crime… no one would notice
