It’s pretty heart breaking to see a town you grew up loving with your roots solidly in turn into a shell of itself like Ville Platte has. Even worse that you have to move pretty far away for something halfway decent
One of the saddest days in my young life was when we left. I always thought we would go back but that never happened.

The dot Indians owning convenience stores are not so much weird as a corrupt scam…Apparently they get loans to purchase the stores which are manipulated and rolled over to different family members and never get paid out. Hopefully the revised immigration and enforcement policies will end this scam too.
Its a lot of middle easterners in general. Nearly every station in my area is owned by them. I would love more information on how they are pulling this off. Would be great if they shut that loop hole down.

It’s a scheme to launder federal grant money.
Since Homeland Security is involved, I’m guessing it’s FEMA related? Originally I thought it involved COVID funds that were given to local governments and police departments for reimbursement of COVID related expenses, but I think those funds were awarded in 2020/2021 and the Oakdale chief didn’t get into office until 2022.
Since it’s multiple municipalities involved, did these chiefs share info to advise one another on how to access the money? Or was there a consultant involved that worked with all of them?
I know the presser is this morning and we’ll find out more, but you seem to know what’s going on.

This one is dumb. The speed limit through Georgetown is 55, it goes from 65 to 55 then back to 65.
fricker got me coming over the bridge in the 55 zone, I didn't realize it lowered. I was going 67. This was about 13 years ago

Woodworth is way worse. They sit there with binoculars and pull you over if they think you have too big of a crack on your windshield. I know a federal judge that couldn't get out of a ticket there.
I had the Port Barre cop stop me for expired inspection sticker on July 1 when it expired June 30. Yeah the next day.
Black cop dressed in blackout militia uniform, jack boots the whole get up.
I said…casually while he was writing “working on that ticket quota to pay the overtime huh?”
I was then spread eagle across his hood while he mother fricked me and finished writing. I then signed the ticket and said “thanks douchebag”
I hate dickheads like that.

In Louisiana your inspection sticker is legal for another 30 days after the month on the front of it.
That ticket was no good.
That ticket was no good.

Officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Internal Revenue Service are scheduled to hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Attorney’s office in Lafayette. An indictment is expected to be unsealed and arrests announced at that time, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Western District of Louisiana.

You do realize that your inspection sticker is good for 30 post expiration?

quote:Wait, what? I was always under the impression that it was good until the last day of the month on the sticker. So for an 07/2025 decal, I thought it was good until July 31 but on August 1 it was no good anymore.

You're saying that it my brake tag expiration date is 07-2025 that I'm actually still valid until August 30?

First, fix your shite. Second, don’t mouth off to the guy and just own it. It’s not that hard to not get spread eagle across the hood.

Couldn't quite hear the whole statement, sounds like the police chiefs were involved in a scheme with the Subway owner where they'd falsify police reports that a victim(an illegal) was subject to a crime like armed robbery, this allowed them to apply for some special visa for crime victims, and were getting payouts for the falsified reports dating back to 2015.
