I had a 2012 Frontier, and you are right, looks exactly the same as the new models. I had no complaints about it, it was a solid truck.

I now have a Tundra, and I can't see myself going back to Mid-Size for the time being, if I did, I don't even think I would consider anything but the Tacoma.

Coming in 2020

260 horsepower
442 pound-feet of torque

Auto only though and in pure Jeep fashion it will be a $3200 upgrade over V6 or $6000 over 4 banger

I think the V8 swap into my JK will be cheaper

Get rid of the "Chicken tax" and bring over the Merc Mid Size truck. It is super sweet.

It kills me how todays mid-size and even compact trucks are way bigger than the F150 I had in the late 90's.

I had a 16 Canyon, and it was a great vehicle. The backseat was just a little to small for baby seats. If not for the kids, I'd still be driving it.

Ranger- typical ford, unreliable
Colorado- lots of elecrical probs, unreliable
Ridgeline- for soccer moms only
Gladiator- nice looking, jury still out
Tacoma- coasting on rep, not a hilux
Frontier- proven reliable design, 4.0 v6 is a beast. Available 6 spd manual. Winner

Hell I had a 2005 Frontier and it looks exactly the same as the new models. It blows me away that Nissan has allowed the Frontier to go virtually unchanged for going on 15 years now. Mine was a great truck, V6 with the 6 speed manual, I eventually had to get something bigger but am now back in a place where I'd consider downsizing to a Tacoma or 4Runner.

It may be super sweet but it appears to be super dead. Mercedes announced earlier this year they were dropping the X class. I think poor sales were due to costing too much and not having enough luxury added to the Nissan it is based on.

I’d be more open to a mid size if it had a small V8.

If I had to buy one, it’s be a Colorado or Ranger.

Maybe longer because they're crew cabs.

I know a Colorado isn't as wide as a 95 C/K.

I have a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with over 100k miles on it.

It runs like a top. I like the body style (2nd gen) better than the newer 3rd gen Tacos. They took a great looking truck and tweaked it just enough to look dumb.

But the 3rd gens do have some cool tech features like the off road creeper mode.

Still, I was 4 wheeling though the sand dunes in East Matagorda TX last weekend and she plowed through deep sand in 4 high like a hot knife through butter.

I'm not sure what you're smoking but the Jeep Gladiator looks like busted dogshit. Have seen a few of them around town and they're ugly as hell

Not to mention they are a dodge, so imagine the repair costs of those things.

I have two Canyons (the GMC Colorado variant) in our fleet.

They will be the last two we ever have.

Lots of interior & system electrical issues with both, A/C compressors with both, mileage is close to a full-size truck.

They are very uncomfortable imo.

Colorado/Canyon has the towing capacity over the others. Ranger is rated about the same, but only comes in a 4-cyl gasoline engine.

I recently bought a Ridgeline after test driving all of these trucks.

It is perfect for me - good gas mileage, good road manners, extremely comfortable, Honda reliability (presumably), with a truck bed for the occasional thing to be put there. Only negative is slightly underwhelming looks.
If I did not need a longer bed, I'd buy one of these in a heart beat.

Now the mid size trucks are not full-size trucks. They made for light duty work and to drive around town.

I have a pre owned 4x4 Chevy Colorado tricked out. Fun little truck really have not had issues. I also do not drive it much it more of a toy than an everyday vehicle. It 3 years old and I only have 7,000 miles on it. Really cannot day how reliable it is as I do not drive it much.

Before my father passed away I sold his full-size Chevy and bought him a 4x4 Nissan Frontier V6 for him to drive around town. That truck really been reliable my father only put 8,000 miles on it. My nephew owns it now and he says he loves it. He has a company vehicle and uses this just to tow his little boat. It around 7 to 8 years old in great shape. Really not driven a lot.
