They are finally introducing an updated model. If anyone is in the market for a midsize, you will he able to get a very proven and reliable truck for dirt cheap in the next few months. They ride like shite and drink a lot of gas but they take a beating.

Tacoma’s have too much hard plastic inside for my taste
I always see this criticism regarding Toyota trucks. I don’t get it. Why does the hardness of the interior plastic matter? These are surfaces you aren’t sitting on.

I had a 4.0 Taco, reliable AF but couldn’t drive 85 miles a day at 21mpg anymore. Didn’t like driving it much either

I have a 2014 Tacoma 4x4. It’s a great truck. I will definitely buy another one in about 200,000 more miles.

For what it’s worth motor trend magazine picked the Colorado over the Tacoma. It beat it in several specs like acceleration, gas mileage etc. Surprised me, they rarely pick American brands over Japanese brands.

The Chevy Citation was Motorr Trends car of the year in 1980. I owned one; it was a piece of shite.
So much for motor trends opinion.

The Colorado is easily a better truck. That's why it beat the old but updated Taco.

It’s literally impossible for a Tacoma owner to post in a thread like this not make this type of comment.
They are good trucks but 200k is common across all makes and models these days. Plus, there’s no shame in buying a new truck just because you want a new one.

Yep. Not unusual at all. Frankly if you don't get 200k you likely didn't maintain it at all.

My company has a half dozen Chevy 2500s that honestly DONT get maintained AND see job sites five days a week, and tow most of those days as well, that have well over 200k.

Drive a 17 Colorado. Love it, would recommend. Power, acceleration, and comforts won me over the Tacoma. And spending 8k less for the same truck was a plus.

A low mileage 05-06 Tundra with a 4.7 V8 is the best mid sized truck of them all.

Got the 04' Tundra with 270K, and look to get 350K plus out of it!
Oh yea and I have this as well......
I will be driving both of these a year from now and you Baws will be on here arguing the same bullshite.

Them Toyota’s are nice and the price tags reflects it. I had a pre owned 1983 4x4 taco and back then no frills $3995. I sold it for more than I paid for it around $4,300 in 1986. I had it tricked out and when I had kids my wife didn’t like the truck anymore.
In 2016 bought pre owned 2016 Colorado for $24,999 that was tricked out with the bigger wheels, roll bar, winch, upgraded stereo for a lot less than a Toyota. I couldn’t even walk on a Toyota lot for that price. It my toy not my daily driver. Daily driver I would lean toward the Taco truck and be willing to pay more.

I prefer the pre-updated models. I think 2000-2003? I haven’t really liked the Tundra’s since 2006.
The first generation was the perfect size IMO.

That’s pretty common for domestic full sized trucks. It’s likely why Toyota and Nissan haven’t easily been able to grab a significant market share in that segment.

How'd you swing that? When I bought my '17 Tacoma I also looked at Colorados, but they were slightly more expensive and had less in stock. I have a SR5 4x4 double cab long bed and got it for less than the same thing in the Colorado.
I abuse the shite out of my Tacoma.

Tacomas came out in 95, you had a t-100 or something.
