We'd call it the "Jam Car".. that was a great addition.

I remember we'd run the shite out of those cars, to the point that the pads on the bottom of the cars had grooves cut in them and they'd become intermittent.

Parents probably chunked the whole thing once they started stuttering.. probably a simple fix.

i kept a pencil in the box to erase the scuz off the metal leafs under the trucks to keep them going.

nothing sucked like hitting the gas at a sweet opp to take the lead only for the truck to hit a 'dead spot' and slow down or hesitate instead.

my first set of walkie talkies!

only the bottom 3 buttons worked and you could transmit 3 different tones to the other receiver by holding down the 'talk' button while pressing them.

still have them.

also smash up derby

and i still have this; years before the GI Joe aircraft carrier came out.

My favorite shows as a kid were the Six Million Dollar Man and S.W.A.T. Got this for Christmas, it had the gun firing noise when you pulled the trigger.

I just barely missed out on the rebooted GI Joe of the 80s. I was in that awkward in-between age where I was young enough to watch the cartoons and want the toys, but old enough that I’d be made fun of for playing with toys.

I hear you. I got the aircraft carrier one year and put the box by the trashcan and a girl on my bus asked if I still played with toys. That was the last time I got action figures

Until I started collecting them a few years ago

About 1960 I received a battery powered commercial type airplane model with 4 engines. Each engine would turn the props one engine at a time in a starting pattern. Engine sounds and blinking lights accompanied the prop spins. Thats all it did but I was fascinated by it.

The Guns of Navarone mountain.

I spent many hours playing with that.

We would use our Red Riders to shoot the soldiers after we set it up.

Johnny 7 one man Army - Mom was at Toyland on the Marine Base in Hawaii checking out this toy. It launched one of the projectiles, striking a gunnery sergeant who was shopping. Mom was embarrassed, of course, and said the gunny was very cool about it.

A few years later, Mom found a used Lionel Jersey Central set (50's vintage, the photo is an online photo of a modern remake). It was used but in good shape. Had I kept it, it would be worth at least a couple grand.

For those who might find a vintage 50's version of this set (or the locomotive), the locomotive is commonly faked.

I was most excited when I got an Easy Bake Oven. I remember spending New Years Eve making every mix that came with it.

I had both Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain.

I'd set up each one at different ends of the house, and spend hours setting up booby traps and roadblocks for He-Man and crew to traverse while on their way to kick some Skeletor arse.
