Eh. It was never really going to “stay” in Mississippi. The guys that founded Comcast were all from the Northeast. The cable tv company they bought to enter the market was based in Tupelo. They quickly relocated it to Philly.

Why would Kyocera be in SC? Kyoto Ceramics was shortened to Kyocera in the early 2000's.

Alaska contributes a shite ton of oil. ANC is also a huge port for imports arriving by air.

How many of the local state brands are limited to the state or a small local region?

How many are now national brands?

How many are international brands?

No Microsoft? The SaaS company Concur was originally started in WA, but was bought out by SAP.

PACCAR should be on the list as well, for WA.

As I grow older one of the most interesting things about this country is the ability for giant brands to rise out of some of the most obscure cities

3M started in Two Harbors, Minnesota. A small town on the north shore of the lake they call Gitchi Gummi.

An additional random fact about Two Harbors is that hall of fame basketball coach Lute Olson coached at Two Harbors high school before moving out to California.

Spare me, its a monopoly. Its not hard to be extremely successful and charge way too much when the scum politicians lock out ALL competition from an industry that has to exist for society to function.

Allow me to run an ambulance company here and consumer rates would be cut in half overnight.

why does South Carolina not have Duke's Mayo listed? That's a massive brand now, even if it's not located in SC anymore.

Wait, they are no longer in SC?

Where are they now?

Did some private equity snatch them up?

Microsoft is on the map. You are looking at the wrong state. It was founded in Albuquerque.
