Grew up in Covington, too much change, seems to be bursting at the seams, traffic's horrendous, schools are overcrowded...Fairhope, no brainer if your beach people. If you have to move to St.Tammany, I'd go to Folsom.

Yep. London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Fairhope, Rome, Barcelona...

Fwiw, I would pick Fairhope over Covington.

My brother and his family have lived in Mandeville for the last 6 years and we just moved my mom to Covington. I live in Mobile and have friends that live in Fairhope so I have a pretty good idea about both places. Covington/Mandeville are really nice so I don't think you can go wrong living there. My brother and his family really enjoy the area. Plus you're a little less than an hour from downtown NOLA which is convenient. The one thing I don't like as much about that area is that that there's not as much direct access to the Lake in Mandeville as there is to the Bay in Fairhope. There are some neat restaurants near the lakefront in Mandeville though. That's one reason I like Fairhope a little better. Downtown Fairhope is really unique with all the art galleries, the pier, beaches, bike paths, bluffs, and the jubilees. The fact that you're 30 minutes from the beach and Mobile, less than an hour from Pensacola, and still less than 3 hours from NOLA puts Fairhope over the tip in my humble opinion.

If the majority of your family/friends are in Louisiana and you believe the jobs are equal, choose Covington.

Rock Creek is a nice course, and the Grand is fun. Other than that, don't know much about Fairhope.

As someone born and raised in covington and hates gumps I choose fairhope. Covington/mand/Madisonville are over crowded and destined to become little metairie. Not to mention you would have to deal with the most inept state and local governments in the country.

I'm a bit biased here so I'm leaning towards Fairhope because that's where I grew up all the way through high school

As someone who grew up in Covington as well, I will have to disagree with you on this. Parish government- maybe. Certainly state. As for the OP, do what some posters have suggested and do some vacation time in each. They both have more positives than negatives imo.

I would probably pick BSL over Covington.

I don't find the Gumps to be too bad down in S AL. Fair mix of AL, Auburn, snd LSU fans in my experience.
Fairhope>>>Covington IMO.

Lower Alabama.

Also something to consider, iirc, the tax set up in Fairhope differentiates it from every where else. Maybe some Fairhope peeps can expound

Not really. One road, 190. Otherwise, I have no problems.

To the OP, the locations are probably a coin toss. Choose the better job.
