My neighbor did this. I truly believe he did so he could sit in his car and play on his phone in peace.

Been there and done that when our youngest was in primary school and our oldest was in high school. 5 grades in a primary school that’s in the middle of a neighborhood, that was built before segregation that was never intended for that many kids, much less car pickup. I had to be home by at least 3:30 and if I didn’t get to the primary school at least an hour early then it wasn’t happening. It sucked, and I don’t miss it.

I'm a junior high teacher, but I can see the elementary school complex from my window and the earliest I've ever seen someone lined up was 1:45 and our kids get out at 3:15. Our district police officer runs them out now if they show up before 2:45, he just tells them there is no reason to be on school grounds that early and sends them on their way. At first there was a lot of complaining, but after about a month they got the hint and rarely does anyone show up too early now.

The best pickup line story I have is about a young male teacher we had in the elementary school, he used the pickup line as his own singles bar. Our district usually gives the newer teachers outside duties for before and after school. They assigned him pickup line duty his first few years and he would just stroll and flirt with all of the single moms and then you'd see him out and about with a new mom every few weeks. Eventually there was some drama between two of the women and spilled onto social media. The district took him off outside duty, never said why, but everyone knew. He's now married to a girl his own age and they have kids of their own, but man he was living life for his first few years of teaching.

We had a car pool in the 70s with about 10 kids crammed in a big sedan. One mom smoked in the passenger seat and let her 15 year old son drive us (up to 85 mph at times). Another would get drunk now and then and forget us at school. They both got kicked out of the car pool after multiple infractions.

Back in the good ole days, we had a principal that on rainy days would ask drivers what street they lived on. If it was close to a student that did not have a ride, she would put the rideless kid in the car and say, "here you're taking this one home also!"

Do they not have anything better to do?

1. They woke up and got the kids off to school
2. Went home and watched those cunts on that stupid morning show so they are up on current events
3. Put on work out cloths and pretended to exercise
4 Banged Jodi (optional - most in the pick up line are fat)

5. Day is done by 2:00 pm - Pick up kids and bitch about how horrible their lives are.

Which is nuts to me bc I assume most of us were from the 80s and 90s and were latchkey kids.

I get there early because my grandson has the biggest smile when he sees me first in line. Its like he is the proudest kid in the school. But, thats like 20 min early, not a hour.

Because they have to prove to the other moms (actually trying to prove it to themselves) that they "care" more. If you show up 5mins after kids get out you clearly don't love your kid

There is a middle school a block from the house I have in BR. On the rare occasions I would have to go there near school let out time, the line of waiting cars would be two blocks long. I would pass the cars to go towards my house and the gym teacher, empowered with a whistle and walkie talkie, would flip out and try to force me to get in line. I would roll my window down every time and yell "I live here." LoL.

My son's school let's out at 3:10. I've had to get him for dentist appointments at 3:30. So I show up super early those days (work from home with very flexible schedule those days). But only an hour early max. Usually 5 or 6 people already there. Honestly that extra hour saves me 10 minutes, enough to be on time for the appointment. Like you said, otherwise I show up and 3:10 and have a small wait.
