That was my thing. We live in an age where folks can do amazing things with data from a visual perspective. It’s truly wonderful and enlightening in many cases. But I feel like a lot of info is sometimes missing. Is there context in an info graphic?
This guy does a great job providing it. He doesn’t claim to be epidemiologist or a medical professional. He just knows how to synthesize relevant data to draw meaning from it.

Meshes with my thoughts on the matter pretty closely. I guess we'll see after it's all over with. Bookmarked for later.

In this thread: people willing to believe what is basically a blog post from a partisan over World leading experts in their field.

There was probably a more measured and reasonable response than shutting down the entire economy and education systems, essentially destroying the livelihoods of untold numbers. Just sayin.

Did you read it? He’s basically quoting who and cdc scientists as it relates to the current data.
Not sure what party affiliation has to do with it.

I dont disagree. However the time to begin the mild mannered response would have been about two months ago. Instead the president was not only ignoring it, but he was running around publically denying this for almost two months. The biggest problems we are facing is the impending lack of hospital beds, vents, PPE, etc. We are just started to ramp up efforts to get extra supplies. These supplies are already an issue at many hospitals and they haven’t come close to seeing the worst of this. Imagine how things could have been different if we’d taken this serious like MANY experts warned. We could have fixed the testing problems so maybe we’d have accurate data to have a more measured response. It also would have been nice to have been educating the public on this. It’s great people are practicing social distancing and hand washing but it would better if everyone was doing it a month ago. Some people will deny it forever, but we got a late start on this.

Medium has already taken down the post.
Should I infer it was bullshite or should I infer that it was too real?
ETA I will not infer that the link was wrong because others were able to read it.
Also, medium generally seems to have good pieces so I’m more curious as to why this story is no longer available.

I read enough to know when someone can cherry pick stats to make tell the story you want it to tell. Instead I’ll continue to listen to the people that do this for a living and are at top of their field. When Dr Fauci walks out and say this is overblown and we have no reason to worry, I’ll believe him.

I’ll assume this is why it was taken down.

I never drew that conclusion from the article. I was too busy looking at the data and quotes from the cdc and who. You know...

So please provide us examples in the MSM back from January where experts where warning us about this? I can give you the WHO tweet about it not being contagious and CNN criticizing the Task Force composition for lack of diversity. Other than that I don’t recall anyone blowing up the air waves about this growing into a pandemic.

Read it last night before Medium tried to yank it with the 410 thing. But his numbers appear to be solid and interpreation may have some stetches, but I think it is a must read.
Certainly makes you think that this is a gross overeaction. My only question would be why is Corona running as fast in NOLA like it is. It is outside of the "Green Zone" that covers NYC, Chicago, Seattle, etc.
