The police don't mind it being posted on social media. The real point of checkpoints is public awareness. They want the public to know they do these so the public will be less likely to drive under the influence. You are helping the police out by posting it.

MADD would have to pay for extra duty cops to work that night. I could get behind that. Instead of paying 10 to work a checkpoint, pay 10 to patrol and only pull over suspected drunk drivers.

Great philosophical challenge for sure. I use waze anyway, posting it on Facebook is kind of obsolete. Ultimately I believe it's for the good of the public to know where the police are and where they can be found. Dialing 911 can be a five or ten minute wait when you need the cops immediately.

Drunk drivers? Absolutely.

Buzzed drivers at .08? Come on.

There's lots more buzzed drivers driving safely than drunk drivers. Lots more drivers pulled over equals lots more $$$.

Take your emotions elsewhere.

What if a family member was killed by a shitty sober driver? Do we need check points for that?

They tend to put them up in certain areas. People will just avoid them.

You'll likely prevent a OT poster from getting their 4th or 5th DWI so posting checkpoint locations is not all that bad.

They absolutely should be posted. It's a money grab and nothing else.

DUI's are a scam. Cops consider drunk driving to be buzzed driving. Being buzzed is no big deal and most people are fine to drive

They have to be about money. In lafourche they are in the same spots everytime. They absolutely do hurt the bar business. Used to be able to go out any night if the week and there would be a decent crowd. I used to drink and drive a lot so if we're up to me I know exactly where they need to be to really catch some people. Also it should be noted you never see a dwi check point in the ghetto.

I prefer they get caught and sent to jail and taken off the roads.

Disagree with Celtic dog = adolescent........

frick DWI checkpoints. How about the cops doing some real police work and only checking for violations of the law when there is reasonable suspicion, as expected in the US constitution.

Yea, you'll never see one in the hood because there's no money to be made there.

Cops wouldn't even arrest the guy that t-boned my BIL while driving no insurance and no license. I have no faith in the police to "serve" anything other than their coffer's interests.
