I post every time I see a checkpoint or a brake tag check. It's all for revenue generation.

Lt. Cory Reech used that overtime last year to more than triple his base salary, taking home nearly $191,000 and becoming the highest-paid city-parish employee, outpacing Mayor Kip Holden by nearly $55,000.

While Reech, who heads the police department's DWI task force, is far and away the leader in the department's overtime hours, several other task force members also collected significant overtime checks. All told, eight officers, including Reech, saw their overtime compensation last year surpass their base salary. All were on the DWI task force, either full-time or part-time.

Well one is not like the other. Thankfully where I live there is not a vehicle registration sticker/check.
A DUI check point is easy to get through. Don't drink and drive. Pretty simple concept.

MADD would save more lives if they took the grant money for these checkpoints and rebated rides with Uber/Lyft

I applaud you finding an article. But that's one officer or a group of officers. Very little departments get to enjoy the OT. I would be willing to bet most DUI's are by officers on regular duty,

.08 usually is one hr post consumption of one drink. So if you drink 1-2 beers then wait 2-4 hrs after driving or call a cab or a dd

No. No it isn't.

I was given a breathalyzer after dropping my keys by the door of my truck. I was a few pints deep and blew a .01

DWI check points are a waste of time. Any time I have went through one there were at least 30 cops working it. Lots of wasted money IMO. Money would better spent putting these each of these cops on the road in a patrol car. Better chance of catching drunks this way. But let's be honest the goal isn't to catch drunks it is to give OT to these cops and line their pockets.
