It’s honestly surprising that this doesn’t happen to local government orgs more often. Their IT director is probably named Debbie or some shite.

I believe anyone can hack and steal all our information at anytime if it’s done on an online platform or anything connected to it. Just depends on the risks people are willing to take and how clever they want to get. But at the same time it’s terrible that we trust the government to protect our information and they fail us.

It was a state contractor that was hacked, a private company.

Can’t blame the state for this one.

A lot of other entities are caught in this as well.

You CAN blame the state for being too incompetent and lazy for using a system like this that got hacked.

Johns Hopkins got hit by this same attack.

Surely they are more competent and less lazy than our state.

Yet, leftists and progressives want to put more and more of your life in the hands of the government. They can't even keep your data safe. By all means let's put them in charge of your mother's gall bladder operation. Or let them tell you who can or cannot hire.

The state should pay for my identity protection insurance then

I will take cash instead. I am on my 2nd year of 5 years of credit monitoring from the Equifax settlement. I think the average settlement though was 15 dollars.

The state of Louisiana has deeper pockets. On second thought the state can also sit on settlements and judgements against itself forever. Just ask people that are waiting judgements against LaDOTD for various road hazards.

Also, the ambulance chasing attorneys will collect 90% of the settlement in attorney fees and distribution costs. I just got virtual payment card with a whopping 4.50 on a prepaid card for the Lithium Battery suit. You could have just mailed me a check for 10 dollars. Card processors charge nearly 5 dollars to setup an account.

I know someone that works over there and he said IT wanted to patch the system in question but DPS pushed back and delayed it.

It’s the same way Envoc gets all our data but if they’re breached nobody will know.

Then why are Louisiana & Oregon the only two states whos DMV/OMV was compromised? Sounds like the other 48 states have their shite together and Louisiana & Oregon does not.

So how exactly is the state not to blame?

Would love to see the look on the rooskie faces when they try to negotiate my french last name that includes punctuation. They should’ve gone after a more traditional American state
