Millennials and Gen Z like to bitch that everything is too expensive and they can’t find decent paying jobs. Those boomers will be dead in 20 years. That will be a huge wealth transfer to financially immature people. Has there been any research on how this and how it will affect the economy?

Considering Medicare/Medicaid cuts, most of that wealth will be transferred to assisted living facilities and in-home care.

Wealth inherits wealth. The transfer will be to other wealthy family members.
The Millennials who are complaining aren't the ones who will inherit that wealth.

Most of us have zero clue what it is like to be a billionaire.
In 20 years, being a millionaire won't mean chit (pun intended)
A billionaire is 1,000 times wealthier than than a millionaire.

Do the math:

It’s laughable to try and predict. Think about how much has change since 2006. Just buckle up buttercup.

The people that grew up poor won't be inheriting shite

That being said there are a lot of families that own their homes outright so at minimum a lot of people will inherit a paid off home and that's not just the wealthy.

I think most adults with even modest pay can cover the property taxes, insurance, and utilities with an inherited home. That's certainly worth something even if it doesn't come with a huge cash windfall to go with it.

Yeah I’m Gen X. Got a small inheritance from my father. On my wife’s side she’s set to inherit quite a bit. Nice house and cash. Of course I act like that doesn’t exist until that day. A lot of these boomers loved their cigarettes so unfortunately sooner than later

Then they don’t need to be bitching. Their people aren’t hoarding anything.

I disagree….what wealthy people are good at is not giving their kids money….they teach their kids how to be rich.

Wealth is all about making the right choices in life and having the work ethic to follow through with those choices.

And how has the individual boomer done this? Explain.

435 Congressmen, 50 Senators, 9 Supreme Court justices and the President over the last 65 years are the people responsible for the state of this country.

Funny thing is I’ve heard two excuses from millennials

“Boomers are hoarding all the wealth”

“Boomers are holding up all the good jobs by not retiring because they didn’t save for retirement”

Well which is it?

Get a job and quit bitching. Most of us did not grow up with a silver spoon.

Hard work, discipline, and dedication work wonders.

only about 2% of households account for ~50% of all transfers, so most people will inherit far less than headline numbers suggest. Since transfers are concentrated, they may reinforce existing wealth gaps rather than compress them.

Your premise is tragically flawed. Under current policy and demographic trends, we’re heading toward a more barbell economy: a richer top, a thinner middle, and a larger bottom that relies more on transfers—not because people are lazy, but because opportunity structures have eroded. Concentrated inheritances amplify that, but they’re one piece of a bigger structural problem.
