The photo shows white teens seated outside eating Popeyes’ fried chicken. The caption on that photo says "Happy MLK Dayyyyyyyy" with a fried chicken emoji bordering those words.
quote:
“Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel has mandated that the student who posted the photo apologize publicly to the high school student body immediately," the statement says. "Bishop Deshotel was deeply saddened and disturbed by the post, and believes that racism in any form demeans the human person who is created in the image and likeness of God.”
The diocese says the student's action violates the school’s code of conduct and the diocesan social media policy.

Meh, private school.
We used to sit on the front porch of our college house and have chicken watermelon and 40s for every Martin Luther King Day.

Is it really an apology if you are "forced" to do it??

I'm sure MLK loved fried chicken. Every self respecting Southerner loves fried chicken.

Private schools scoff at this notion.

A number of private schools have it written into their codes of conduct that behavior off campus is also punishable by the school. Like it or not, that is what the kids and their parents signed up for.

Funny part is that MLK’s writings and museum have made it known that fried chicken, black eyed peas, collard greens, corn bread, and pecan pie was his favorite meal.

Will they also be forced to apologize for eating tacos on Cinco de Mayo? Or drinking green beer on St Patricks day?
The horror!

If you don't love Popeyes fried chicken there may be something wrong with you.

The three piece spicy and a biscuit special is a really good deal, I don’t care what race you are

Is it though?

racism - prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
Not sure the hate element is manifested here
