I work at a greater New Orleans hospital, balls deep in the Orleans/Jefferson suburbs and people are pouring in sick as shite. And it's not just the older patients. We're starting to see more people, 50 and under who are fairly acute with pneumonia.

Please give us a little more info other than "Pouring in". Things like what hospital, whats the ICU bed count, how many on vents, how many vents do you think are available. I think giving us real information might help.

Hope they don't, but they are going to say "shelter in place".

Yes because it's common for a freak virus to jump from animals to humans and then mutate into several strands.

Should have stopped right there. As medical professionals more of us need to be willing to tell them to get fricked bc they should be happy we don’t think they need tested.

We had time to have testing ready, but the CDC screwed the pooch and the feds refused to lose face and clear the private labs to move forward with their tests before March. Other countries are testing more and have been for a while.

What else would you suggest to boost an immune system? Will it Corona proof people? No. Neither will panic and testing.

This is what most people don’t understand. Who gives a frick about the test? If you have it, there’s nothing they can do for you.
Bad viewpoint.

Right now we are only testing the severe cases. Of course the CFR is high. The flu would look like the plague if we only tested people who were the most susceptible to dying from it.

If this thing is not a big of a deal as the media is making it out to be, we run the risk of damaging the general public's response to the next disaster.

It is the same thing plaguing the climate science community. The media and certain scientists overhyping the issue, things like "By the year 2000, 200 million people will die per year from starvation due to global warming". That was an actual headline and has damaged climate science in the general public's eye. Just to be clear, I do believe climate change is man made and real, I was just citing an example of exaggeration being harmful.

Many of us don't want to reveal exactly where we work...just like any other poster on here. How hard is that understand?

Also...the way this board has treated any nurse posting in COVID threads lately....I think all us nurses on here should just stay out of all COVID threads from now on. Cause it doesn't matter what we may actually see and post...we are gonna get attacked for it and have it twisted into us just being hysterical.

I was in one of our ERs yesterday (one of the busier ones in Chicago) @around 630am. Normally we have a minimum of 7-10 rooms full, 1 room was occupied. This nonsense about healthcare getting overrun is the biggest crock of shite.

Thank you for pointing out that the test (all these idiot hysteria pushers on here) that everyone won’t STFU about is USELESS!!! IF YOURE SICK STAY HOME, IF YOU NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION GO TO THE DOC. THATS IT, why is our nation on the brink of depression?

Med Center or West Campuses?

The Fetal Center, whichever one that is.

Surgery was I guess at main hospital?

It was wild though. Didn't really see anyone outside of actual workers there on Thursday.

1. I personally have yet to see one person with or without the virus (tests pending) with more than the sniffles or flu like symptoms. I realize it is only a matter of time before I do but still.

This is a good situation which suggests that your community can have some success if it implements protective measures now, rather than later when it is everywhere.

Lmao I work for a series of hospitals in downtown Chicago, NONE of which are over run, they’ve all set up specific testing centers and test patients, diagnose/write a script and send them home with a doctors note saying they have the flu.

GTFO with that hysteria mongering u freak

I remember reading about the private lab situation, you're right.

Ok...but you are in Chicago.

Could it just be possible...maybe...that other areas are having totally different situations than where you are?
