Some people just have to argue things no matter what. I'm sure we'll see the "WTF I LOVE AUTO STOP/START NOW" crowd on Facebook later today.

Once again the government and climate activist save us from ourselves
how much more expensive were the cars made to add that feature? It is not like the car manufactures find ways to add more cost to the consumer. Per usual the consumer gets screwed. Stupidest feature ever.

Thank you, sweet 6.5lb baby Jesus!

And tractors. Having DEF or regen on farm equipment is asinine and not only does it hamper the horsepower it actually burns more fuel. And it constantly messes up and requires expensive repairs only the dealership service dept can do.
I run 50 hp tractors mostly John Deere on pto paddlewheel aeration for emergency backup on the catfish ponds. A 50 hp older JD pre regen burns 3-5 gallons if I run it for 8-10 hours. A regen 5065E JD will burn 10-12 gallons because you have to run it at higher rpms to do a regen burn. And it tears up the bearings and gearboxes on paddlewheels because they aren’t designed to run that fast. It serves literally zero purpose

This is what I voted for

I just think it's a shame how Toyota was forced to go into all this turbo/hybrid bs and turned the most reliable trucks into shite.

I have a new car and all I have to do is push a button next to the shift lever to turn off the stop/idle feature every fricking time I get in car.
cmon man, its a pita and serves very very little purpose of saving fossil fuels.

Yea the 5.7 Toyota V8 is a legendary motor for reliability. An absolute tank but it did drink gas like an alcoholic
I’d rather have that then a turbo v6 or v4 that they use now.

Good.
The manufacturers should push firmware updates so those of us with cars that have this awful feature can PERMANENTLY disable it forever.

I will say it does save a lot of gas in my wife's car.
Ummm…how would you know unless you turn it off or disable it to compare?

Is this on all new cars? My current vehicle is a 2019 model. I didn't realize that all new cars were required to have this.

A very rare thumbs up for the EPA.

Please be true.
I hate that shite. The first time my truck shut off at a red light I had this momentary spike of panic that brought be back to when I drove a hoopty that would die all the time. I immediately bought an auto start eliminator to shut that bullshite off.
I also hate the thing where my 8 cylinder engine goes to 4 cylinders on the highway. I paid for 8 cylinders and I want to use 8 cylinders.

My Tahoe does this. I talked to my mechanic about removing/deleting it and he said it’s possible but they have to take out the engine, replace the lifters etc but it’s pricey - around $3k

Not really. I had my tuned to delete it.

Did you also delete the cylinder deactivation crap? I’m interested to see how you like it and if you did it yourself or have a shop do it

I dont see how.
The constant restarting ( temp rich condition) likely negates any fuel savings.

Thats incorrect.
The shutting off is all electronic and can be done with a proper ECM tune.
Now, if you want to completely redo the engine and install new lifters that won’t fail bc the ones GM installed are shite, then you go this route. But just the 4/8cyl delete is rather simple and would only be 2-300.

I did. It’s not entirely noticeable TBH.
