People need to request to comment on the agenda item. I’m not sure the procedure but some cities require you to notify them of your intention to speak on a certain item well in advance. Someone smarter than me should look up the rules to comment on an item for the metro council and post them here.

They ask that you inform them of your intent to speak on an item in advance of the meeting. it kinda helps the meeting flow and finish on time. But you are under no legal requirement to do so as a member of the audience.

When they read the item, Lamont will say "Ladies and Gentlemen, this item has been requested to be deleted by the Mayors office (or Parish Attorney).

He will likely want to open and close a public hearing very quickly, but theres no legal way they can stop someone from speaking as long as it is germaine to the item being discussed. If you go up there and mention other grievances, they will cut you off.

That's how they removed Gravy all those times. He never stayed on topic and just went off.

Stay on topic and you will get your 2 or 3 minutes. Once the public has said their part, Lamont will make the motion to close the public hearing.

At this time, the councilmembers will have their turn. You can bet every one of them will use their allotted time to tell their constituents they were unaware, blah blah blah and try to deflect that they nearly got hoodwinked.

Then someone will make a motion to delete, it will get a second, and it will disappear.

I agree with the above poster that the District itself needs to be rescinded. If not, at any time they can sneak this "fee" thru and there's little anyone could do about it. Removing the district adds a needed layer of public trust at this juncture. My 2¢.

Yes, one of 147 Republicans to vote on the only two measures put to a vote after the supposed "insurrection" on 1/6.

This largely symbolic measure doesn't sway me regarding Garret's RINO status.

This story needs to be stickied. This one can't just "disappear". It's time to hold this group of criminals accountable.

I agree with your sentiment.

I hope you’re right about the public comment. For some reason I thought you had to indicate you wanted to comment on a matter beforehand.

People need to demand that the stormwater district be dissolved immediately and unequivocally. We shouldn’t allow them an easy way to sneak something through and that’s the only way to restore some of the public’s trust. Further, there needs to be an accounting and records request of all documents related to the creation of this district and of all communications between the mayors office, parish attorneys office and any federal agency regarding this district and ms4 or whatever it’s called.

If you really want to do the records request any joe blow can do it. You just have to pay for copies. Surely people could raise the money on other websites or apps if they wanted to.

I have a suspicion that there’s a lot more they are covering up.

What's really sad is they aren't covering up anything illegal or a crime that I am aware of. They are covering up their incompetence from a lie that probably didn't need to be said in the first place.

Just be honest and tell me what you want to do, how much money you need, etc. The amount of hubris by the people behind this one is stunning.

It's amatuer hour on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

The mayor obviously tried to control the narrative here and the NDA was the way she decided to do it.

There are things she doesn’t want out there.
She wants tax bad and her scheme was to push it through fast by blaming the Feds. She got caught.

Forming a city and getting control over city tax revenues and zoning committees has ZERO to do with forming an independent school district.

And exactly, why did a city have to be formed? You seem to be ignoring another important fact.

Man what a swing and a miss. Just Broomes history since she took over should have told you everything you needed to know. Like hiring the con man for the top level position in her administration.

He won't change his mind regardless of the facts on hand. St George did what she told them to do and then she takes them to court for doing it It's a fricking circus. This stormwater issue needs to stay in the news, what a joke.

Kiran reporting that council members are requesting emails and cell call and text records for Broome, CAO, assistant CAO, and CCO. This issue will still be brought up next week in a public hearing.

Would be cool if she created an official account and worked something out with the admins. She’s well received here.

Interestingly LSU just named HNTB’s CEO a distinguished alumni in October 2021. Lots of favors being handed out it seems. Definitely something shady happening.

I'm positive many media outlets and interested citizens have made public records requests about this. That's as sure as death and taxes.

It would be comedy gold to see all the emails and texts that went around on this one.

Here's the problem that may pop up. A fair argument could be made that alot of those conversations are attorney client privileged because the Admin and the PAO are all up this together and it would benefit many many people to have those conversations never see the light of day. And not just for this issue. People say all kinds of stupid shite in emails and texts and people get divorced etc and they may not have had a damn thing to do with this but got their lives ruined by a public records request that exposes an affair or something out of context etc. I try to seperatey work from my personal email but I can't tell you I'm perfect with it. Imagine all the dumb shite in your texts and emails. Lord they would cart me off to the loony farm and go round up all my friends. If you were a contact in my phone, they'd prolly start watching you.

They will absolutely claim attorney client privilege on all that shite. It may do the trick. Maybe Landry's office or the Feds could tell them to shove that up their arse, but you and I would have a hard time doing anything about it. If The Advocate or Biz Report or at least a decent sized media company doesn't raise shite, then maybe that just passed muster and it goes away. You won't find anyone from BRAF or any of these other acronym people clamoring to have emails leaked about a damn thing.

My argument against that is the PAO actually falls under the authority of the Council, not the Mayor's Office. She's not technically their client. The Metro Council is.

If this is going to be must see TV, it's the Council who's gotta become the producer. This thing could sweep the daytime Emmie's. If we can get this thing to Dee Dee Slaughter type of insanity, I think that's a reasonable goal here. We could possibly overperform. I'm hopeful.

Disclaimer, I'm not a lawyer and I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express but I have been to many regular holiday inns and it's a quality and affordable brand. Highly recommend for the poors.
