This "fee" was going to get funnelled into the city of BR general fund for when St George exits Baton Rouge city control. Probably.

I can imagine Mel Brooks reading that statement in character as Governor Lepetomane in Blazing Saddles.

Give the mayor a hurumph!!

SWB at that time told them they needed to form a city as Central had.

The organizers took her at her word then,

That was terrible advice and you either A) fell for it or B) tried to use the lie to your advantage to get what you REALLY wanted which was control over city cofers and zoning.

Were they politically naive? Certainly, but they had no way of knowing just how corrupt politics were in EBR.

This is especially rich, considering the main organizer is Bodi White who once put up a bill to get Central out of BREC and then puilled it after BREC purchased land from him and agreed to develop commercial property for him and his real estate partner.

I thought I saw on a notification earlier that said the Mayor's office admits to it. I could be wrong, I haven't gone through my notifications to read in detail..

You make some bizarre comments.
The effort was to get a school system started.
What does city coffers and zoning have to do with anything?

That had nothing to do with SG, zero zip nada.

And White did help to a certain extent until SWB and the black caucus stopped the effort just short.

Exactly. Forming a city and getting control over city tax revenues and zoning committees has ZERO to do with forming an independent school district. It used to but no longer did as of the early 2000's. You seem to ignore this important fact.

The remainder of the town hall meetings were cancelled, but the item remains on the C-P Council agenda per pm BR Business Report BRBR

??????????

What are you talking about.

Local school boards have nothing to do with city tax revenues of zoning.

SG set out to form a school district. If they had won years ago and won that vote the next step would have been a state wide election and a local election for the ISD. I doubt a new city would have come up.

Not only can they not just take it off the agenda just because the Mayor said 'whoops', back on Sept 14th the first stage of this was the Metro Council approving a Stormwater Utility District that - as far as I'm aware - also still exists and can't be walked back.

You're being intentionally dense. Forming a new city does nothing to help with a school district. Literally nothing. There's zero legal basis for believing it would help. If anything, it hurt by further souring public opinion within Baton Rouge and Baker.

You keep repeating false narratives.

The most logical explanation is that they just wanted to form a city and the school district was an excuse to go public with even though the two things weren't connected.

You are correct. We need to stay vigilant.
Best thing is the district deal needs to be rescinded. It passed under false pretenses.

Nothing I posted isn’t true, it’s all on the record.

People need to request to comment on the agenda item. I’m not sure the procedure but some cities require you to notify them of your intention to speak on a certain item well in advance. Someone smarter than me should look up the rules to comment on an item for the metro council and post them here.

It’s important that the mayor, council and parish attorney know we don’t trust them anymore more and they need to resign. The ones that signed the NDA all need to resign. They were part of the scheme to mislead the public and siphon almost $40 million from the citizens with no transparency.
