I wouldn't mind not going to work 5 days a week, I assure you. But I don't see this happening.

Right now, it seems everyone is focused on using AI to eliminate human employees so they can save a buck. But if enough companies take this approach, unemployment is eventually going to be through the roof and most people will no longer have disposable income to buy their products.

Once the big corporations get wind that their attempts to save money on labor costs ultimately leads to fewer sales down the road, the pendulum will swing the other way IMO.

If work is optional, the economy will bust due to the lack of jobs.

Do most people really feel this way? Family gives me purpose, friends give me purpose, work is a means to make money for me. Nothing more, nothing less.

Your genetic programming is designed for survival, not leisure. Take a look around at all the retarded shite western civilization is fighting over, and ask yourself why.

It is my belief that people were designed to fight for survival, and since we no longer have to, we find other things to fight over.

Sure, but logging into my computer from my couch wearing a t shirt and shorts doesn’t scream fighting for survival to me

It’s too removed from hunting and gathering to feel related although I realize it is a means to provide food for myself and my family.

We will always compare our selves to others and strive for nicer things.

Even the poorest in the world are more wealthy than 99.9% of all humans who lived. The ability to prop a chunk of plywood for shelter and find food in a garbage can would have been a luxury to almost all of prior humanity.

This is a dumb idea that if you give humans basic food and shelter, they will be content. Some will, many will strive for better and now we're back to the lack of social equity nonsense.

Yep. Look what happened to the indians when they were taken over by the government.

Elon is a smart dude, but he says a lot of things, some of them are true and some aren’t.

As far as AI goes I don’t know that there is really anything there yet other than some fancy programs that can generate patterns based on the inputs it is given.

Can it replace some entry level data input type jobs? Probably so.

Is it going to fix your car, build a house, or design a complex system on its own? I don’t see how.

Elon Musk is a genius. What he’s accomplished at all of his companies is comic-book level amazing.

Still, take any timeline he gives and multiple it by 5-10.

There is no way in hell work will be optional in a generation.

They won’t. This is how they get “utopia.”

They’ll sell it as a positive. But it’ll be a huge negative.

I’ll add this to shite people say that will never happen like, “you will get a $5K DOGE check or $2K tariff rebate.”

No, it means not required to do anything. Though you might be able to fill your days with meaningful productive things, most people wouldn’t have a clue what to do with all the time.
