The corona lockdowns will have unintended consequences far longer than they lasted. The New York shooter even mentioned it in his manifesto.

You isolate vulnerable young people in their rooms for months (or years) at a time with nothing but video games and free reign of the internet and it’s a recipe for radicalization and disaster.

Prayers go out to the families of those lost today.

CNN is bringing up the idea that it was targeted towards Hispanics. These asshats in the media are fricking sick.

Schools will need metal detectors at every entrance now. It's a high cost but I wouldn't mind my tax dollars going to that. They already go to A LOT worse.

What do you think that would have changed in today's events?

Wouldn’t entering school zone alone make it illegal possession?

That should absolutely end any political debate arising from this but it won’t
Of course not. Murder is illegal. Didn't stop this.

Metal detectors aren’t gonna stop them. If I’m paying higher taxes for school security (which I would happily do, btw) I want it to go towards actual real manned security at every entrance at every school.

I saw some news report saying Border Patrol was involved, which makes me wonder why since Uvalde is no where near the boarder...unless they were there as part of some immigration fugitive apprehension

Uvalde is 1.5 hours from the border and it’s a known illegal drop off point. Wtf are you talking about?

I’m not replying to anyone in particular.

I just have to say that when something like this happens and people immediately jump to conspiracy theories and politics, my blood boils to the point that I have to just walk away. So that’s what I’m going to do before I get banned. 15 families had their lives ruined, children are dead. I don’t know how but I hope they can eventually find peace.

They never find peace, they just push forward in life. Peace is impossible to find after you lose a child, especially in this manner.

How do you just run into a school nowadays and why wasn’t school on lockdown with murder suspect running wild close by?

Every school I’ve gone in in the last 5 years has big fences - most doors from outside you have to be buzzed in and there are cameras all over the place

Oh FFS shut up. You’re assuming the school was aware of the pursuit or that officials had time to notify, let alone lock down, the school. Sometimes shite happens no matter how much you prepare. And sometimes you simply can’t prepare.

Save your criticism for a later date. If and when it’s proven someone was negligent. For all you know, he may have shot a teacher gaining access to the school.

I don't know the particulars of today's events but if he entered the school at least the door would have stayed locked when setting off the metal detector. Sure it's not 100% effective but it's at least one more barrier.

I cannot even begin to imagine the rage, confusion, and grief that would come with losing a child like this. I don't know how any parents in these situations carry on.

Goddamn. Prayers to all those affected. If you’re this fricked up, just kill yourself. Why kill innocent people? Much less children.

Locking a shooter inside a building full of kids doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
