It's still a Chrysler.

Don't let them kid you.

But there isn't a single full-sized manufacturer making them to last like they used to. You can thank the federal government for most of that.

It’s true. Dodge had to rebrand to Ram because Dodge trucks became so synonymous with garbage. Amazing really

Out in the high plains of the west they're the most common ranch truck you see. By far.

I love the cabin visibility. It’s not like most modern cars and trucks. You get great sight lines from the drivers seat.

All of the serious hunters I knew in a Montana and Wyoming seemed to have one. Never asked why though.

I bought one a going on 3 years ago, so far no issues , besides the hemi tick sound, put 37k on it..
I have a Nissan small teuck( hardbody) since 1997. Pit almost 300k on it ns it’s still going strong, they don’t make stuff like they use to

GM's 6.2 is far and away the best gas engine. Ford's 5.0 is a close second.

I mostly agree with your other points.

The 6.2 and 5.0 are two of the finest V8s thay have ever been produced.

Having said that, the fact that the ram design is what...20 years old? Is a testament to it.

Ford's 2.7 turbo 6 gets no respect and yet is a great little engine.

Ford's 7.3 is another engine that deserves a long look from anyone going gas burner.

What do I know though, I drive a nissan V8. I will replace it with a nissan V8 in the XD chassis at 300k miles.

Fyi for the OP, Mark Dodge in Lake Charles gets discussed a ton on Ram forums and Facebook pages. They are supposedly one of the best priced Ram dealers in the country.

Guys from all over the country go to Mark Dodge to buy.

I bought mine from there. Their finance people don't even work in the building, did the whole thing online and over phone/text. They offer free delivery but I opted to drive out and drop off the old truck and pick up the new one myself.

Nice cattle. We keep 225 cows with 8 bulls. We hardly use hay anymore (daily moves mostly) but keep cutting some for drought insurance. When we do feed hay it is with 4 wheelers or sxs with a small trailer to unroll. If we used a truck or tractor we’d create massive ruts.

I’m guess y’all had some coincidences with rams. We’ve never had problems. F350s as well. Never owned gmc/chevys, but I don’t hate em either as some of the cowboys that used to rope out here drive a couple. They still help out, but our labor massively decreased when we broke them to hot wire. If you have fence line in woods I can’t recommend timeless fence enough.

That has nothing to do with what you posted, and even if true, It's irrelevant to Rams since 2019.

I bought a RAM 1500 new in 2015 and kept it until 2021 and put 60k miles on it.
It was the smoothest driving truck I've ever owned and never had a single issue with it mechanically or with electronics.
That said, it was the worst quality paint on any vehicle I've ever owned. I swear if you looked at it hard enough it would leave a scratch. It was black paint which shows everything, but it was poor quality. I came from a BMW that didn't have a single scratch on it, even after a dumbass changed lanes into me at low speed. It didn't even leave a mark in the paint on the BMW.
I also had 1 wreck in the RAM where someone turned in front of me and I hit the unloaded trailer they were pulling. It did far more damage to the truck than the impact should have. You couldn't even look at the trailer and tell it had been hit and it did $30k of damage to the truck. It folded like wet paper. The body damage wasn't overly excessive. But it broke off the control arm and spindle in what wasn't a significant impact. It didn't set off the air bag, it didn't even jerk me around. Felt like hitting a big pot hole then sliding down the road on the frame.

That's most commonly the evap purge valve. $20 part, 5 minutes to replace, and extremely easy to trouble shoot.

Being that it's a Toyota it will likely be better than competitors, but I'd still be wary.
