Surprisingly savvy move. The hipsters and young white professionals are what tipped the election and they were pro-Gissel prior to the run-off, and we're caught in no mans land in between Sharon Weston BLM and Bodi St. George when the final election came about.

Don't know what it means for Baton Rouge's future, I'd almost rather have SWB incompetently stumble out the door without doing more harm at this point.

Pretty good move on her part. The SJWs are gonna lose their mind, which is a win!

I see him all the time working out at the downtown Y. Not surprised he polled in the single digits. The guy was running to head the parish/city and I've never seen him speak or even smile at anyone in there.

Does he have any experience running city government?

Best thing she has done since day one.

The best thing she did was squash that stupid TRAM from downtown to LSU. Although she probably did it for different reasons than I would have.

But yeah, didn’t see this coming. I voted for Gissel in the primary so I’m definitely on board. Wish the conservative establishment would have gotten behind him instead of Bodi. He ran as a no-party candidate because he was getting zero support from republicans.

Heard on Tiger Droppings that he is a prick though.

Darryl is a nice guy. I used to rent from him. He has two signed pictures of him with Reagan on his wall

Zero. Which is why I can't believe people think it's a good hire. A $900 million budget and the report coming out that the city is in the top 5 over leveraged cities in America, yet his resume is Real Estate Investor. Cleaned up Spanish Town. Forgive me for not expecting more.

Looks like her plan to hire a white person played off though judging by the responses.

This is a surprisingly decent choice.

Like frick it isn't.

He's a real estate agent without a lick of public policy or large organizational executive experience as the chief administrative officer of a city-parish of over 400,000 people, which faces more debt risk than all but four other large American cities and a growing incorporation movement among a large number of its wealthier citizens while being inundated with violent crime and battling traffic gridlock on a daily basis, then clearly that’s going to be a call made on the basis of merit.

Right?

And he has no experience at all and will be dealing with an administration of clowns that will likely have little to no interest in working with him.

This is a political payoff because Gissel endorsed Broome last year and that delivered enough white voters for Broome to squeak by.

This goofy no-chance-to-win a-hole is the reason we have SWB as mayor today. Let him sink his political aspirations and reputation by hitching to her wagon.

Agreed.

Gissel pulled the same shite Jay Dardenne did stabbing hard working producers in the back by endorsing JBE and then immediately going to work for him after the election as a reward.

Gissel is just smart to delay that by nearly a year and Broome just did him a favor and repaid a political debt.
