Fauci is an expert in one area, that's his only concern. He doesn't understand or care obout the social and economic fallout.

Yo Gordon, do you think the DOW futures might be up because of positive remarks including: Trump & Pence's comments that they see signs of the corona virus in the US stabilizing; the state of New York seeing deaths due to covid-19 falling for the first time; and Italy, France, and Spain all reporting lower numbers. Those supportive reports outweigh Dr. Fauci's.
The President's comments could be interpreted that business activity would resume in May if things continue to improve.
Of course, where the S&P and Dow futures are about 12 hours before the markets open doesn't mean a whole lot, especially in this environment of high volatility.

If that did happen, it probably really would just be a flu or a cold, because most people will have been exposed to it by then and it would no longer be ‘novel’ to our immune system.

I imagine a lot of folks who never sought treatment or showed symptoms were already exposed.
