I can be doing 80 MPH in the left lane going faster than the right lane, and if someone closes in on me I am getting over to the right to let him pass. That person could be late for work, having a personal emergency, trying to evade someone, who knows. Whatever it is its not my business and his actions are between him and a cop out to catch speeders.
When I drive on the highway, I am constantly monitoring of what is going on behind me. Although its a simple task, I think a lot of drivers simply do not have that skill and they just pay attention to what is in front of them.

He needs to add a Texas driver clause that states they have to stay in the right lane no matter what. Also, 18 wheeler asshoes need to stay in the right lane as well.

I’m good with this as long as they step up enforcement on speeding equally as much. The number of jacked up truck nuts baws and douchebag BMWs doing 90+ every day on 12 is just as much of a problem as slow left lane drivers.

How does someone moving past you at a higher rate of speed equal a big problem for you?

Super high powered headlights, on trucks, improperly aimed and blinding everyone - make that immediate impound of the vehicle. That's what they need to do. If you can spend $100k on a truck, you can figure out how to aim the headlights properly. And if you can't, it goes to the crusher and you have to watch.

On the autobahn it is a 300 euro fine for riding the left lane. You only get in the left lane to overtake vehicles and as soon as it is clear you get over to the right. Elderly people seem to have trouble with that concept, they will stay in the left lane doing 65. People who do that need to be fined heavily.

If the speed limit is 70 and I'm driving 70 mph in the left lane and you're on my arse trying to do 90 am I driving slow or are your speeding?
Glad to see idiots in state legislature focusing on the tough problems facing out state.
The real problem in this state are jackholes who are speeding causing unsafe conditions on the road. This is a fact and anyone who drive the freeways in Louisiana knows this to be the case. Ignoring it and playing the victim only makes them look even more stupid.
100% someone driving 50 in the left lane is wrong, but that's rarely the real problem. You know who you are.

I think a lot of drivers look out their windshield like it’s a giant TV. They have no clue how their actions affect other people.
They bumble along dripping stupidity all over the place, fricking up other people’s day.

I despise the left lane drivers. I could stereotype but it seems to go across the board now, old, young, black, white, male, female. Probably the damn phone has people lingering there sometimes. Not gonna be popular but every time I see a veteran tag they act like the highway belongs to them.

Spend the money they’re planning to spend on this stupid fricking rule on driver education through ad campaigns and signage.
I don’t want to give those stupid power-hungry motherfrickers one more reason to arbitrarily pull me over.
And I use the left lane properly. I am always aware of my surroundings and who’s coming up behind me and if I’m in the left lane and if they are going faster than me, I let them by.
It’s easy peezy, all it takes is awareness.
Again, I don’t want to give law-enforcement one more stupid reason to stop me.

I don't know that there is anyplace on earth where more people think it is acceptable to drive the speed limit or less in the left lane than in Texas. It is not terribly bad in heavily populated areas but man when you get into isolated, rural areas...and there is a BUNCH of isolated rural Texas, it seems that the perception is that the left lane is the slow lane....I don't know why but its very noticeable.
Trucks are not allowed in anything but the right lane in most of Europe. It means you may be stuck behind a line of trucks 20 miles long when you need to exit. They are also limited to about 10 KMH less than automobiles....it causes HORRENDOUS traffic problems when the motorway is turned into what amounts to a one lane highway....
