Except it wont get passed down to customers and it will reduce jobs. Something we dont fricking need.

It will probably be included as part of a larger subscription service like what Wing has with Walmart. Walmart+ subscribers get free wing delivery otherwise it is $20.

Well your food won't get picked thru by a drone. I can't imagine how anyone feels comfortable with someone handling their food to your house. I've watched these people.

2. I don't do a ton of food delivery but the people I have dealt with are generally a 2 of 10 on the reputable looking and smelling scale.

That’s true in some cases, which means that this:

minimum wage job in the restaurant the food came from originally.

Probably isn’t happening.

Big picture is that this is going to eliminate yet another easily-accessible job for low/no skill workers and eventually, “they’ll find something else” will stop being a valid answer entirely.

Don't be so pessimistic.

It will be easier for the fats to get their slop. Tech companies make more money. Hospitals and pharmaceutical companies make more money. No need to worry about all of the buzzing drones outside since everyone stays inside on the internet.

More interested to see how drones get food at most restaurants. Fly through or pick up?

We had a pilot program here in Granbury Texas for several years. You'd place your order through an app. The delivery service would pick up the order at the restaurant. Put it in a container and the drone would deliver it to your front yard.

15 years ago I liked to say “if a drone delivered pizza, I’d order one right now. I’d go outside and wait for it “

Now, it just seems all too much.

I would suspect these folks (many of whom are already on some form of public assistance) would be better off at a minimum wage job in the restaurant the food came from originally

Many folks need the temporal flexibility of gig work.

I use DoorDash on the reg in BR. About 80% of the time, it's delivered successfully. And the majority of those times:

The car pulls up and smells like weed.
The bag the food is in smells like weed.
The dasher's name is something like "Tanya" and a black guy shows up.
Sometimes the car pulls up and there's like 3 people in the car.
The car windows are usually completely blacked out, and it's riding on 4 donut tires.

Other times, they'll call and be like "Where you at? Where you located?!" and I'll see them on the app driving all over the place. Sometimes they'll take a picture of it sitting in front of a business that isn't mine. Other times, they just cancel the order.

If you ordered a drink, the ice is always completely melted to nothing. And that's if the drink is actually there.

frick all that shite. BRING ON THE DRONES!

What happens when the drone has to pull up and wait?
