Huge loss for country music and the world in general. I was lucky enough to see her in concert once. I think it was 2005 or 2006 when she was promoting her album of 60s/70s pop covers.
They just opened a new coaster at Dollywood and for the first time (I believe) she wasn't there in person for the opening. She apparently sent a video message saying that she had been dealing with dehydration and her doctors wanted her to stay close to Nashville.
In all of the rumors about her health there were some that said she used to have major issues with kidney stones. I'm wondering if she either developed kidney cancer or had her kidneys fail on her.
There was a plan to open a museum in her Songteller Hotel on lower Broadway in Nashville. I'm curious to see if that comes to fruition or if they will just expand the one at Dollywood.

One of the most incredible stories for a successful female artist
It should be mentioned that she once turned down the King himself- Elvis when he wanted to record “I will always love you”.
They made an offer that was one sided and Dolly turned it down.
It broke her heart because she wanted Elvis to sing it but it paid off huge down the road when Whitney Houston sang it and made Dolly hundreds of millions!
Smart woman.

I do think she was an amazing woman. Take this FWIW, I had a good friend at Gibson that said in public she was the sweetest nicest thing, but behind closed doors not so much.

Nobody likely reaches her level of success without a bit of "behind closed doors" ruthlessness. I'm not sure how much, if at all, that would diminish her genuine goodness as an overall human being.

It’s very possible that if every American took a poll yesterday of simply “approve/disapprove” for every major celebrity, she’d have had the highest approval rating.

The amazing thing about Dolly is that gave so much that was never publicized.
Her book program is amazing. There are countless parks in Tennessee that built due to her funding.
One of the genuinely good people in this world learning of her death is very sad.

I don’t know for sure obviously, but reading between the lines the last 1-2 years it sounded like advanced kidney disease to me. If so, that can lead to all kinds of potentially fatal complications.
