Across the board 20% to EVERYTHING would be a good place to start.

most of it goes to the military industrial complex and to keep the IRS running.

Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are the biggest expenses. After those it's probably military and interest on the debt.

Govt at all levels wastes 75 cents of every tax dollar they take from you. The taxpaying public should be outraged.
Agreed. What is the equivalent of dumping out all their tea? They tax us on every transaction twice now

What happens if we don’t pay military for a year? Does all the tanks break and planes fall from the sky?
What happens if we just ship all old people to cheap Col place?

Easy, Ukraine.
To be more specific, your taxes are going to pay the interest on the money they borrowed to send to Ukraine.

Also an amazing nugget per the Googler
Interesting breakdown.
quote:
As of September 2023, there were 2.95 million employees in the US federal workforce.
Looking back to the 20th century, between January 1939 and January 1944, the federal workforce more than tripled in size. It reached 3.1 million in 1944 and then declined before increasing again in the 1950s. It continued to grow throughout the 20th century, peaking in 1990 at 3.4 million employees. By 1999, that had contracted to 2.8 million.quote:
Federal offices with the most personnel in 2022 were Defense-Military Programs (772,300), the Department of Veterans Affairs (411,600), and the Department of Homeland Security (202,800). The Federal Trade Commission, National Credit Union Administration, and Civil Defense Programs had the least, with about 1,000 employees each.
Interesting breakdown.

There are thousands of illegal immigrants put on planes every single day. With your tax dollars.
Has your government ever paid for your flight, allowed you to bypass TSA?
There's one answer.

I believe I heard yesterday that the interest payments on our national debt was 300 billion in 2020. This year it’s 800 billion, so a lot now goes towards that. Guess who came into office in 2021 and more than doubled it?

I know all people do is shite on the government but if it weren’t for all the reports USDA puts out, my job would be ten times harder.

If everyone had to pay in estimates rather than having taxes withheld from every paycheck, there would be much more accountability in government.
Exactly this. Automatic withholdings makes the amount of money you pay seem out of sight and out of mind. If we had to writes checks, there would be outrage.

Ultimately, into the offshore accounts of politicians and special interest groups.

We will eventually default. This path is unsustainable.
The problem is that the changes necessary would make the administration doing them very unpopular, and they know they'll be out of office or dead before it blows up. This applies to both parties. There are no fiscal conservatives.
