What are they doing with all that money they took from me?

Mostly things that are necessary but can't be done profitably like providing security for the entire world so every other nation can produce shite cheaper than we can, ship it around the globe without much risk and provide all manner of nice shite for their citizens like free basic health care, modern transportation and utility systems AND, most importantly for those nations, allowing their citizens to pretend like they are on an equal footing with US citizens as far a productivity and global security but far and away superior in such things as enlightenment, health and intelligence.

A sizeable portion of it also goes to people whose retirement savings is invested in t-bills and the like. There is also a sizeable chunck of it going to organizations who also hold government investments, most of which were required to be bought by law. That portion is what keeps banks and social security solvent.

Only about 25% of it goes to discretionary spending like the US military (where the lions share of discretionary spending goes) and other government agencies, most of which the majority of Americans think are necessary AND whose job is such that there is no way to do it AND turn a profit so the private sector won't do it...like the FBI or Department of Energy who maintains nuclear missiles.

No one in the history of mankind has ever liked their tax bill.

Where did I advocate for raising taxes from current levels?

You flat taxers and VAT bros are delusional if you think we will being going to this taxation policy in the current political climate.

It may be possible one day but not now.

frick that. Paying people not to riot is asinine. Punishing them appropriately when they do riot is the answer. There should have been firing squads lined up in front of all of the looters in 2020.

Do you want to enact pragmatic policies or aim for pie in the sky shite like this? The US will not as a matter of policy start mass executing looters in the street.

It should not be the burden of middle-class taxpayers to take care of these people from cradle to grave because they're too low IQ to understand impulse control.

The "middle class" only pays an average rate of 14.8% and up to maybe 14 or 15% of the total taxes paid as of tax year 2020. If the tax code eliminating a lot of exemptions for certain income like muni bond interest and Roth IRAs, you could perhaps lower the rates on everyone and pay less tax but then the government loses the social engineering aspect that the tax code gives them.

Contrary to popular belief, the 1% pay all the taxes in this country at 22.2% of total AGI but 42.3% of total taxes paid.

Do you have hard data to show how pervasive this "welfare queen" problem is?

If living on welfare is so awesome, why don't you quit working and become a welfare king?

Agreed. We are living with the repercussions of policy decisions made decades before we were alive or could vote.

Incremental change is probably better than your shoot all looters and having people starve in the streets. Those are not winning policy prescriptions and will never get you elected and into power in the current political climate.

I do agree with banning books describing how to have gay sex or any sex at all from schools. I feel like that's simple to agree with unless you're a pedo.

Sadly, if we could just ONLY increase spending by 1% a year instead of the automatic GAO built in 8% and freeze government non military hiring for a few years, we could grow or wsy out of this mess.

This.

Heck, even if we only locked increases to a lower % we could probably cut the national debt in half in a decade and no one would feel a thing.

so like the current tax system? Where effective rates of the wealthy are lower.

Flat tax is where it’s at.

Well most of the federal money goes to transfer payments. And the role of the government is to take public funds and put it in private hands.

Spending all of that plus borrowing a bunch more from the Chicoms. They send Trillions overseas in “foreign aid” where corrupt foreign leaders steal most of it and send the rest back for distribution to our politicians.

We’re all still living in a feudal system, the serf standard of living is just better than it used to be. But not for much longer. Our overlords don’t like us owning things and having independent means of survival.

Go look up where the money goes.

There are generations of non working families. If you have any sort of memory think back to when a black man was elected president.
