I have mine on an NSAID Galliprant, which is supposed to be easier on the kidneys/liver than the others and a pet CBD oil both of which are supposed to help with inflammation. She has spinal issues not hip issues that aren't too bad yet so we are being proactive. Seems to help. I'm too scared of the Liberla shots based on user reviews I've read.
had another dog that had worse pain from a slipped disc and she was on gabapentin, galliprant, CBD also. Helped until the end but she was really old and had a host of other medical issues. Also used the Assisi loop on her back but, it is stupid expensive.

What mg fish oil capsules and how many? With each meal? Ours gets the dasequin chews and a monthly librella injection and would like to try this as well to hopefully help. Appreciate any info.

Take him behind the shed and use your 9 mm handgun.

We have a 10 y/o lab/aussie mix and have had her on omega 3 fish oil + Dasuquin for years (can get both on Amazon and just have it auto ship on whatever schedule you need). We started her on both before she started exhibiting any signs of joint stiffness or pain because we knew it was a matter of when not if. Can't say what shape she'd be in if we hadn't but I can tell you at 10 years old she's still as spry and active as any young dog. People at the dog park are always surprised to see her with her old gray face haulin arse around with everyone else.
Last year we started getting Carprofen (generic for Rimadyl) to use on an as needed basis if she has a super long day of running/jumping/fetching/swimming but our vet did tell us that regular usage can affect their liver so we only use it when she really needs it. You can get it through Chewy if your vet approves it and it's pretty cheap. I think we paid like $35 for 60 100mg pills and most of the time we break them in half when we use it at all.

Love that boy with everything you got.
As others have said, the monthly shot does wonders.
My Weim, my best buddy, decided to move on across the bridge a couple years ago.
I miss him every single day and will never not.
I have a 14 year old Weim that is having difficulties as well. We have tried everything from Fish Oil to the monthly magic shot but nothing has worked. She is still getting around although running is out of the picture.

I have a 13 year old Weim with diabetes. (I didn't know dogs could get that) She's on insulin, diuretics, blood pressure, and carprofen meds. Everyday is a gift. Sweetest dog I've ever had.

We were also feeding our Closequin tabs, probably similar to dasequin, which seemed to help a little. It wasn't until we added fish oil that there was a dramatic change.
We were feeding one per day to a 45 lb dog. It's the Nature Made ones from Costco, you do NOT need the enteric coating, 1200 mg. Fish burps are a feature, not a bug, to a dag.

MSM aka “ Methylsulfonylmethane “
My wife SWEARS by it for her finger joint arthritis, and won’t go without it.
It also helped our dog with her hip pain. Mixed it in peanut butter no problem
I highly recommend the NOW brand MSM + Glucosamine it’s high quality not Chinese shite chemicals.

MSM works through several different mechanisms. MSM inhibits the proinflammatory nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-?B) pathway, leading to lower levels of inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a). The inhibition of the NF-?B pathway may also inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2), an enzyme that plays a role in inflammation.[5] The reduction in COX2 and the inhibition of inflammatory cytokines can also have antioxidant effects, as they regulate the generation of reactive oxygen species. MSM (and other sulfur-containing compounds) also regulates immune function, potentially inhibiting interleukin-6 and modulating cell death in certain types of cancer cells. MSM may also promote cartilage and bone health by stimulating signal molecules that promote osteogenesis (the formation/development of bone) and cartilage differentiation. These effects have been demonstrated in in vitro studies and in animal studies, and more research is needed to clarify the mechanisms through which MSM works in humans.

I had a lab that we thought had bad hips but it was her back that was worn out. May be too late for glucosamine/chondroitin but it's worth a shot. We doubled up on the food with it and gave her the supplements. Kinda helped but vetprofen was the only thing that gave her relief.

I have a 15 year old lab mutt. Healthy except his back legs. He still gets around but I can tell it bothers him and is slow getting up. I started giving him glucosamine a couple of months ago and it has helped. I didn’t think about the fish oil. I’m going to add that in. I also have some of the gummies that makes him hear colors.

Sounds like hip displaysia. Larger dogs are more prone to it.

Lawd they raping you on the price. Pay about 80 and i find it lasts for 2.5-3 months
Some of that cost is from using a mobile vet. I can’t get my dog in the car anymore. Also, she definitely needs it once a month. We can tell when it’s time for the next one

Feed that dog nothing other than meat. Raw chicken necks are inexpensive and nutritious. Get rid of the dog shite dog food that includes grains and seed oils. Your dog will be pain free in two months.

Librella
It’s an amazing medicine. If your dog is younger I would encourage weight loss and pain meds. But an older
Dog can 1000% increase their lifespan on that once a month injection.
Our Brittany is 16 1/2. She’s on a low dose of carprofen and monthly librella. She gets gabapentin when she overly active. I can’t say enough good things about librella.

He may need a TPLO. Might not be the hips.
Go to a couple vets and get some opinions.
TPLO is about 3-5k. Not bad for your best friend if that happens to be the case.
We’ve done it twice now. Good luck.

Give the glucosamine a few weeks and it should make a difference. The supplement that helped my dog was high dose glucosamine, fish oils and maybe turmeric?

I can tell you what worked for us.
A 50 lb “Retrieverish girl of dubious lineage.
Fed half can of fairly cheap soft food and a heaping cup of high quality dry food once daily.
(She got generous snacks and table scraps during the day as well)
Broke open two 750 mg capsules of Tumeric and mixed in with her meal.
After about a week and a half/two weeks she was comfortable getting up and laying down and walking with me enthusiastically. She couldn’t jump up on the bed like she once could but that was age and wear on her joints, not pain and inflammation.
She was spry and mobile up until the last two days before the lung cancer got her and we had to put her to sleep at nearly 17 years old.
RIP Layla.
