I think this can be successful IF they don't make this a money grab by giving us a Copy/Paste of the movies with a few things added in. They have a chance to do something the movies couldn't and go way deeper into certain elements and themes that were present in the books but simply couldn't make it into the films.

The Harry Potter generation aren't kids any more, so I hope they take the opportunity to explore some of the more "mature" elements from the books (the abuse from the Dursleys, Tom Riddle's family back story, racism/classism/genocide, more on Dumbledore's background, and so on). Just my 2 cents. I'll be locked in to every episode regardless just for the nostalgia that HP brings with it.

Wonder if you have this…how many of the first pitch strikes were takes versus swinging. Also how many were FB vs off speed. If a guy can locate first pitch off speed I always find they’re really effective the rest of the game. When it’s only FB it eventually leads to hits or walks.

I didn't get that detailed. I was really just looking to see if the data backed up what I sensed was happening with falling behind in counts more often than not. If I do it again I'll try to capture more details to share.

I charted every Oklahoma AB

One of the things that's been most frustrating to me this season has been what seems to be the inability of the pitching staff to get ahead in counts. Feels like we are always immediately behind 2-0 or 3-1. So I decided to chart every batter Oklahoma sent to the plate last night to see how often we throw first pitch strikes and what the results of the at-bats are. Obviously Casan shoved so this data will be positive rather than the negative I thought it would show, but here it is regardless. Number nerds, enjoy.

Evans
-Casan faced 28 batters in 7 2/3 innings (5 over the minimum)
-14 first pitch strikes (50%)
-Only two 3 ball counts (both went full)
-First 3 ball count was not until the 6th inning (strike out on full count for the 3rd out)
-One 3-0 count (last batter he ultimately walked on full count before being pulled in the 8th)
-Through the first 3 innings, his first pitch strike % was only 27% (3 for 11) and none of those counts went to 3 balls which is even more impressive

Plog
-only faced 1 batter but FWIW he did not throw a first pitch strike, fell behind 2-1, gave up the single and was pulled for Cowan

Cowan
-75% first pitch strike (3 for 4)
-the one AB he did not throw a first pitch strike flew out on pitch #2
-did not reach a 3 ball count

I know this data is probably readily available online somewhere, but I kind of enjoyed tracking all of this as the game went on. (My wife says I have to keep doing it since we finally pitched a good game with me tracking the stats).

Idk if it’s just me but Yorke also does not seem very strong for his size. A lot of balls that look they have HR trajectory off the bat and don’t even make it to the middle of the outfield
If it weren’t for Kade Anderson falling into his lap because he blew his arm out in high school, Yeskie would be flipping burgers. Dude is the most overrated coach and it isn’t close.

My parents gaslit me into thinking I can survive off 35k as my first job (wanted me to stay in tx)

Not exactly the same but similar...was having a conversation with my step-dad and he said "when I got out of college my first job paid me $35k a year and I made it work." Mind you he wasn't saying this in a boomer-y lecture kind of way to me, we were just having a general conversation. I responded "That was my salary at my first job out of college too, 40 years later." He was shocked because we have the same degree and went into essentially the same field of work, and he did end up admitting that it's harder for millennials to achieve the same financial/life milestones as our parents did.
In this world we live in where AI is consuming almost every aspect of our existence, I can't help but think of this quote from Henry David Thoreau:

"Most of the luxuries, and many of the so called comforts of life, are not only NOT indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind"

He wrote this in the 1840s, and he was right.

LSU vs. Florida State or really anybody, whether in the fall (similar to Biloxi) or in the spring, would be pretty awesome..

Fellow BR raised/LSU grad/Pensacola resident here. Can confirm.
Born and raised in BR (Prairieville), moved to Pensacola immediately after graduating from LSU. Wife and I have been here 8 years with no intention of moving back. No big reason for leaving other than wanting to experience something different than the place we grew up, which I believe everyone should do at some point in their life.
My wife (no pics) still drives the Camry she got when she was 16 (we turn 31 this month). It has 185k miles and I hope to get 300k out of it. No bluetooth, no backup camera or any of that fancy BS, and most importantly no payment and insurance is cheap as hell. When we visit home some folks give us shite for still driving the car she had in high school and it honesty gives me a good feeling inside knowing we probably out earn most of those people who are driving Denalis and AT4s with $1k+ payments.

I drove a 2003 explorer until it bit the dust in 2020. "upgraded" to a 2005 explorer eddie bauer that got ruined by hurricane sally later that year. Ended up getting a 2020 4runner because I always wanted one, and we've modded it as a camping rig that we've taken all over the country and seen places we never would have otherwise, and plan on holding onto it forever.
Unrelated but still a wild stat when it comes to guys spending a long time in college. Myles Brennan was teammates with all of these QBs:

Danny Etling
Joe Burrow
Max Johnson
TJ Finley
Garrett Nussmeier
Jayden Daniels (MB "retired" during fall camp '22).

Absolutely crazy that he was part of the program from pre-Burrow all the way til Jayden showed up on campus.

I don't believe there's a single root cause for this, but a combination of factors.

-Yes it has become increasingly expensive to have/raise children

-More and more couples are struggling with infertility (not here to debate as to the reasons why - everyone can have their own opinion). I'm at the age where lots of my friends and family are starting families and I don't know of a single one that did not have at least 1 (some had 2 or 3) miscarriage before having a successful pregnancy. So be careful when saying those without children are materialistic/selfish. You wouldn't say that to someone who tried for years to conceive and were never able to.

-Even couples without children often have to rely on 2 incomes to make ends meet nowadays and adding a child to the mix could be crippling financially (to some).

-More people are realizing there's no law that says you HAVE to have children, and arriving at the conclusion that it's not something they want for their life. The "when you grow up and have kids" line is ingrained into our lives from the time we are children, and it's my personal belief that many people have children because it's what they think they are supposed to do, not because they actually want to.

My wife and I (both 30) have been together since we were 19 and have had many in depth discussions that all led to the same conclusion: we aren't having kids. No we are not selfish, no we are not materialistic, no we do not hate children, no we are not LeFt WiNg LiBeRaLs simply doing the opposite of conservative values out of spite. Having children is simply not part of the picture when we think about what we want our life together to be.

The decision to have/not have kids is unique to everyone and shouldn't be subject to the scrutiny of others. But also yes I agree the scum of the earth popping out more kids for more welfare checks should not be rewarded for doing so.

re: Going to concerts is overrated

For me it depends on the location. We have a small venue in downtown Pensacola and its a great concert experience. Only holds about 850 people and it feels even smaller than that. In the past couple of years I've seen some of my favorite bands from my younger years (Bowling For Soup, Lit, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus). No matter where you stand you're in a great spot. Plus you can walk to the bar and still be able to see the stage. It's great.

re: Have you ever seen someone die?

Twice. My dad in the hospital when I was in college (2017).Then again just a few months ago. Early morning hours still dark and a truck crossed the hwy median and flipped multiple times right in front of me. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene. The other I believe survived but was airlifted to the hospital. I was driving up to Tennessee for a camping trip and hadn't been on the road for an hour when it happened. Drove the next several hours in silence processing what I had just witnessed.

We have a 10 y/o lab/aussie mix and have had her on omega 3 fish oil + Dasuquin for years (can get both on Amazon and just have it auto ship on whatever schedule you need). We started her on both before she started exhibiting any signs of joint stiffness or pain because we knew it was a matter of when not if. Can't say what shape she'd be in if we hadn't but I can tell you at 10 years old she's still as spry and active as any young dog. People at the dog park are always surprised to see her with her old gray face haulin arse around with everyone else.

Last year we started getting Carprofen (generic for Rimadyl) to use on an as needed basis if she has a super long day of running/jumping/fetching/swimming but our vet did tell us that regular usage can affect their liver so we only use it when she really needs it. You can get it through Chewy if your vet approves it and it's pretty cheap. I think we paid like $35 for 60 100mg pills and most of the time we break them in half when we use it at all.
My dad told me he had a high school friend who had just picked up a girl for a date. Driving down her street with the windows down and some guy sitting at his kitchen table by the window cleaning his rifle accidentally fired it and it shot her in the head as they drove past. Seemed too crazy to be true but idk why he would just randomly make that up.

Kellen Levy behind the plate ??
Travinski is a liability at this point. No justification to keep him in the lineup.
