Early this morning my dog, Mae, was sprayed by a skunk.
I pretty much have her under control, smell wise, after 3 hydrogen peroxide, banking soda and dawn baths.

Worse part of this is Mae got in the house before i understood what had happened. The place is awful smelling at the moment
I've searched to see if/ where she cross contaminated anything, but haven't found anything yet.

Suggestions are most welcomed

Shoot the skunk. They are stubborn little POSs, and it will be back. Mae may not be out of the woods!

Do not let some hippy talk you into humanely trapping it.

If it persists, you may have to consider an ionizer. If other sprays etc don't completely clear the air

The best thing you can do for the house is open all the windows and air it out. That is unfortunately not a pleasant experience in Houston right now. But thats what we do when it happens at the ranch and usually after a couple hours its fine as long as they didn't roll around on a rug or something.

Or just lean into your house smelling like the dankest weed around.

I didn't know about the tomato juice thing until I saw Hachi A Dog's Tale.. incidentally one of my favorite movies of all time .. if you haven't seen it, cancel your plans for this evening and stream it immediately .. warning though- even though it's one of the best films of the last twenty years- one viewing may be enough for a lifetime .. iykyk

I tried to trap some cats on my back porch. Problem was the cats were actually skunks. Stuck in a live trap and I couldn't move them, so I had to shoot them in the head but they still sprayed mostly on the bricks. Cloroxed the shite out of the bricks, but after all these years they still say if you are sitting on the porch on a rainy, damp day, you can still smell the souls of the skunks murdered that fateful day.

Tomato juice. You can also purchase a cleaner at pet store. You have to clean inside her nose or you will never get rid of smell.

Just go ahead and get the ionizer. They’re not expensive and they’re pretty useful to have for your house/car on occasion.

You can use home or store bought remedies, and it will help while the dog is dry, but you’re going to have to deal with the slight smell of skunk whenever your dog gets wet for like a year.

Just enough to remind you that dogs can be idiots.

The house is pretty much unlivable now

Skunk is top of the animal kingdom. There is not one animal on this planet, including man, that wants to eff with the skunk.

Ive had success with tomato paste/sauce combo as well. Rub it on, leave it for 20 minutes or so and rinse. Repeat as needed.

I had a lab that loved skunks and this worked best for me.

The only way, just keep the paste out of their eyes.
