If so how? Or do you just love the taste of alcohol? I know everyone doesn’t drink, I’m talking to everyone else.

2-3 beers lightens my mood. If you don’t stop there it’ll hurt you more than it helps.

I mean, I love me some alcohol but it is a depressant. Probably not the best idea to be drinking heavily when you’re already depressed about something.

Like the taste of certain drinks. Doesn’t help w troubles, but will help me relax so I can sleep if I’m over stressing. Of course, if I go to far, it’ll screw up the next 1-2 days

Just bothered to look it up. They reduce anxiety and calm nerves in small doses. Basically describes my need after dealing with work dumb fricks and then kids all day.

I think it’s nice to feel numb sometimes. The idea of relaxing with a drink is enjoyable.

I’ve noticed that covid and all the other trappings of 2021 were causing me to drink too much so I’ve been working on cutting back.

Self medication is all well and good for a while but after too much of it, the ol’ tolerance starts to get too high. It also starts to get boring, honestly.

Help? Nah. But a good buzz does help you feel like everything is great for a little while. That dopamine hit is legit.

A decade of daily binge drinking and cocaine use did nothing for my troubles. I loathe the substance and yet even today on the way home from work I pondered stopping by the store and getting a 5th and a case. I'm a little over a year sober and it's incredible the fricking grip it still has on me some days.

And that's the case with a lot of people that decide to give it up for whatever reason. On the flip side, some of us don't have much trouble or even any trouble laying ff it as long as we don't start on it. That's to say, I can do without it, but if I ever have a few, I have a tendency to carry on. Simplest solution for me is just to lay off it. Basically, I have no filter. I only mention it because the poster, or somebody else, may be considering laying off themselves and think it's going to be too hard, so frick it. Not necessarily. You may be one that won't have much problem.
