Does Cleveland, OH suck as bad as people claim?

Does it deserve its stereotype? Or is Cleveland better than it gets credit for?

At least it's not Detroit

Much, much better. Dan Gilbert has pumped a lot of money into revitalizing downtown and it shows. Also has awesome weather for most of the summer and fall.

It’s better than Detroit and Memphis

It's in Cleveland. It has to.

Used to travel there some for work. The winter sucks. Theres a weird hood casino downtown that plays rap. The Hilton I would stay at was near the jail and people 3-4 floors up would yell shite down to the street which was kind of entertaining. That’s about all I have to say on Cleveland

I grew up there. The bad rap comes from people who have never been there. The weather between Memorial Day and Labor Day is as good as anywhere. Some of inner ring suburbs are incredible places to raise families.

They don’t call it the mistake on the lake for nothing.

I went up there in 2015 when UK played Notre Dame, and the downtown was completely revamped. Pretty badass. Have also been up there for concerts on the lake. Great downtown. Did not see any more or less ghetto degeneracy than one would expect in any downtown. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was enjoyable
Definitely some Rust Belt aesthetic to Cleveland, but downtown was pretty fun. Checked out that Browns stadium while there.
The bad rap comes from the extremely rough ghetto. Think of Cleveland as three concentric rings. The innermost ring is downtown, on the lake. It's nice.
Then you have that second ring surrounding it. It is nothing but abandoned urban blight. Every bit as bad as you see in East St Louis, Baltimore on "The Wire" , Detroit in "8 mile". You get the picture.
And then the outermost ring is nothing but solid middle to upper middle class suburban sprawl and shopping.
What's striking about it is that when you're driving into Cleveland on the interstate, how stark each change is between the sections. It wasn't gradual. It went from one to the other in a matter of feet, not gradually over miles.

“There was Dallas, from Phoenix; Cleveland - he was from Detroit; and Tex... well, I don't remember where Tex come from.”

Yes, it does suck as bad as everyone says. If I had to live there or NO, it would be a toss up.

At least it isn't Nola or BR

Spent two months there and unfortunately it was during the winter and it was one of the worst on record. I was chauffeured around by the locals or told what to see and where to go so it wasn’t bad. I have been to worse places.
Hats off to the Browns fans that tailgate in the worst conditions to see an awful team play in that bitterly cold stadium.

I only spent a few days in Cleveland for a wedding. Had a blast but yeah it’s full of shotgun houses, downtown is pretty lame. Lake Erie caught on fire.
