I also think Dolores O'Riordan and Hope Sandoval are/were much better.
There are hundreds of female singers that are better than Whitney. But I will concede, Whitney Houston was a huge pop star.

Whitney had a beautiful and powerful voice, and would be in my top five, but Barbara Streisand would get my vote as number one, although I do not care for her personality or political views. Marilyn McCoo has a beautiful voice, as do Celine Dion and many others already mentioned.
