Does anyone feel like they’ve outgrown television, movies, etc?

I have this nice newer TV set with all the channels, streaming services, movies, etc, and I seriously cannot find anything that interests me and that I don’t feel like I’m wasting time on stuff I seriously have no interest in, or completely un-redeeming nonsense. It’s just the same old stale stuff. The only thing I do enjoy is on YouTube, and I end up watching that on my computer most of the time.

I’d say it’s just an old man thing, but I have friends and family my age and older that can just sit there for hours and watch the most uninteresting mind numbing stuff imaginable to me and I just don’t get it anymore. I just feel lazy and getting dumber watching the stuff people call entertainment these days.

The only reason I think I’m holding on to that TV is for college football, about the only thing I find any desire to watch anymore. Please tell me I’m not the only one that feels like this.

I watch either sports or YouTube almost exclusively. Anything that interests you can be found on YouTube.

Or read

Yes, pretty much the only thing I watch is sports and a movie every now and then.

I've never been a TV person. Could live entirely without a TV in my home and I actually did for several years when I lived solo. I don't love devoting time to fiction in any format (book, movie, TV). There are things I've liked of course, but can easily start a show.. enjoy it and binge several episodes that night.. and never turn it on again forever.

Sometimes I'll put on something to watch if we're hanging at home, but it is almost always nonfiction. Either a documentary/docuseries, educational show, cooking (not competition) show, etc.

I watched Stand By Me with my young sons over the weekend. It was awesome.

I can’t not watch Goodfellas, Godfather I and II. Full Metal Jacket, so many more.

I find myself watching the Golf Channel more and
More. But yes, hundreds of channels available and I might key on four or five of them. Mostly reruns.

I'm probably half your age or not many years older than half your age but I definitely spend more time watching youtube video about historical topics or what not that interest me.

I think modern television and movies just suck. It's hard for me to enjoy anything unless it is an old movie or set in an old time period. I do enjoy watching westerns.

I hate to say it, but I think we have a low attention span. Blame technology.

I’ve been into the Film Noir stuff from the 40s and 50s lately. Black and white films may not be your thing but some good films came out of that era.

Used to be able to rely on the History channel but it’s turned into neckbeards making samurai swords and lesbians trying to survive in the arctic.

I’ll watch live sports but that’s about it.

My tv stays on food network, hgtv or college baseball
I don’t even cut it on during the day while working from home anymore
I used to have several shows I’d watch & pretty much lost interest in them except I’ll watch Yellowstone with the SO

I stopped watching TV 10+ years ago.

That is, I stopped watching that object called a television set to see the output of Hollyweird f@g cokehead wokeheads.

I stopped watching MSM news on Nov 4, 2008. I stopped watching the NFL five years ago.

Now if I want to watch something I find an old TV western on YT or somewhere else online.

I do occasionally watch a current documentary, again if I can find it online.

Reading tM/TV board I realize how grateful I am never to have cared about Star Wars, and thus not be forced to see something I'm a fan of be destroyed by SJWs.

Agreed…. I loved the History Channel when it actually did programs about history, and the Discovery Channel was good as well back in the day, but alas, History is History on the History Channel.

I've felt like that a lot lately, but another big part of it is the indecision and the paradox of choice. We're presented with millions of choices and none of it sounds good. I'll never really sit down and make the decision to commit 3 hours and put The Shawshank Redemption on my TV, but if I turn on the TV and channelsurf and it happens to be on, I'll still get captivated and waste a bunch of time watching.

I am the same way. I’m sitting here rewatching the pacific on hbo and watch a ton of YouTube documentaries. I feel like an old man but am only in my late 20’s

I’ve gotten into some good videos on napoleon battles and shite like that
