Just kids, grandkids, etc. Nothing special

No. Not in the slightest.
What did your great great grandfather do for a living?
What was his favorite meal?
No idea?
You'll be forgotten just the same.

Most people don’t have any connection past their grandparents, and that’s if they’re fortunate.
The only real lasting legacy that goes beyond this is sharing your faith and leading them to Jesus, and them doing the same every generation thereafter.

Hopefully, my legacy will be that I was a reflection of Christ. How I lived my life for Him and loved others the way He did. I pray that I have been a good example of living for Christ to everyone I’ve ever been around.

Knowing you could have a sense of permanence in the world is actually kinda nice.
It would feel like a part of you would always be around.

I think that would be a legacy.
You legacy isn’t necessarily what people think of you, it’s your impact on them (good or bad).

Just for my niece. I send her games and movies. Talk with her every day since her dad died a year ago. Teach her life lessons. She’s got Final Fantasy 16 in her mailbox now. Everyone else is gone. Never met her. I’m in Alabama and she’s in Oregon. My brother didn’t leave her much. He was a “live in the moment” guy. I’m a Mechanical Engineer…retiring soon. I’ll leave her enough money she will not want for anything. Big Bro told me to look after her.

I do to an extent.
- I want my children, grandchildren, and (if I get to meet them) great-grandchildren know I loved them and tried to make the country better for them.
- Outside of that, I really don't care that much.

What makes me sad is, I have no children and I'm the last man in my family, so the family name ends with me.

As you say, if you’re dead, how can it benefit you? Has any person who has left a grand legacy felt pleasure from the grave? Did it improve your situation? What was the point?

It isnt important to me. If I'm dead I'm not going to care what others think or remember about me.
Personally, I don't give a shite about all that now so I don't see me caring what other's think/thought about me after I'm dead.

It would be nice, but it's not going to happen.

I want some land, a cabin/house, a large pond, preferably wooded alongside a stream of water as a sanctuary for my children and children's children to have a quiet place to escape the daily grind of life.

In terms of being talked or thought about long after death.
So even if you make an impression, you’ll still be forgotten in a hundred years anyway

Your grandkids will be the last to remember you. 100 years from now no one will remember you existed.
