This reminds me 100% of this Steven Crowder video I watched yesterday. A perfect example of what you are talking about is the 5 minutes of this youtube video. i'll lay it out as a conservative who keeps his ear to the ground in politics, but doesn't take it too seriously... it's interesting because i've found the bleedover to be more in everything we do whether i want them to be or not.

twitter, facebook, and youtube are pulling channels and videos at their leisure.
even if i never touched the poliboard or watched a news source, the world is pulling us into political discussions whether we want them or not.
that being said, i don't let my happiness or outrage be dictated by people in hollywood or DC. i agreed with Obama on some things and disagree with Trump on plenty. idol worship of these men is what is foolish.

I've got a friend who's wife is opposite politically. I mean waaayyy opposite.
They've had some embarrassing fights at parties to put it lightly. Finally she took him outside after the last incident and said something which was a mystery to those present.
All's I know is they don't fight in public anymore.
