Nah, not attention whoring. Today also happens to be my 31st wedding anniversary, so I took the missus out for dinner. It was the best part of my day, given the way it started.
To answer a few questions I saw while scanning the thread…
Not a teenage girl. I’m 56. 6 feet, 250. Yeah, I’m too fat. Wife is Cajun and cooks like a damn chef.
Blood work twice annually. I’m in the green on literally every marker including cholesterol and liver enzymes.
Blood pressure is good. Which is nice because my father has had HBP for years and his father died of heard disease.
I don’t drink every day, but I do sometimes. I go in spurts. Went 81 days without drinking at the beginning of the year. Work got real stressful around Easter, and I started drinking too much. I actually haven’t had anything in a week.
I was having a rhythm problem in June that scared me. A flutter or missed beat type of feeling. Got it checked. Wore a monitor for a week and it showed some nighttime arrhythmia that got the doctor worried. I have sleep apnea.
I just got off some medications that I had been on for a long time. Feeling great actually. There is a possibility that they have something to do with the arrhythmia.
What else do you motherfrickers want to know? If nothing, then frick off.
Good get that shite out.
1) good to see you taking step with the booze
2) good to see your health markers are good
Now....they aren't gonna stay good very long at that weight. You are morbidly obese at that weight bro. You have to get your wife on board and start bringing lunch daily. Clean it up, start grilling and air frying everything. Fill up on veggies and cut out all calorie drinks.
For exercise, atleast start walking daily but it would really really really help you if you started lifting 2x weekly, especially if you were willing to do a formal barbell plan or a plan like db strength by ppsa.
Good luck and if you need advice and are serious, the H&F board can help

Best thing I ever did was spend some time on Jerry’s porch in a cow pasture just north of Rayville, Looos ee anna

Have you ever had one of those days where something happened and you realized that your life will never be the same from this moment forward?
I haven't read past this post yet, but feel i need to answer.
yes.
January 3, 2019 I had a heart attack.
I had just turned 40 a couple months before.
I'm not overweight (was 5' 8" and 145# at the time).
But I had been in high stress jobs for many years, smoked, and ate like shite. Mainly because we had to just scarf down something quick most days, so it was a lot of fast foods, and my family history was all but a guarantee this was going to happen to me.
Since then:
I quit smoking on the spot. My diet is a lot better (not nearly what it needs to be though), and in general I take a lot better care of myself.
I also now have a job that is much less stressful.
I no longer have anywhere near the stamina i once had, but i'm not limited in what i can do (other than unrelated shoulder issues).
I'm no longer the same guy I once was. Coming face to face with my own mortality really punched my confidence in the face.
I went from still being cocky as hell and feeling bulletproof to suddenly feeling a lot more vulnerable and no where near as confident in day to day life.
Since then, I've now had an open heat surgery, so my confidence level tumbled even farther.
On a daily basis i now go throw a range of emotions that i never once experienced prior.
I struggle with the fact that i'm now only a broken down shell of the guy i used to be.
It's not easy, but i make it through each day.
There is nothing anyone can tell you that will "fix" this, or make it go away.
It is what it is now.
You and only you need to find it inside you to fight through it.
The strength is inside you. You just have to find it and make sure it wins each day.

More fatties in denial. My doctor never tells me that. They only tell obese people that bro.
Sorry but unless you are 6'5 if you are 250 lbs.....you are prolly 50 lbs overweight at a minimum.
Yall have gotten so used to seeing fat people yall all think you are normal......you aren't.
Slippy ftr you are peolly 60-70 lbs overweight and are prolly going to have severe Sarcopenia if you don't lose some weight and get active, especially lifting.

I’ve had this caused by artificial sweeteners. Particularly Sucralose (Splenda). Maybe try eliminating any fake sugar you have in your diet and see if it helps.

Also a Rayville alumnus, left to early as it turned out, but picked up my 30 day chip Last Sunday

They say they’re envious of my numbers at my age.
I’m the master of my fate. Almost 61 and still no meds.
So stop making excuses and take control like I have, dude.

I’ve had flutters that they couldn’t find any real reason for. No health issues.
I did read that vit d deficiency can cause these .. I started taking vitamin d right before Covid hit and I’ll be damn the flutters are few and far between these days. No other changes.

Use a salad plate instead of a dinner plate. Don’t go back for seconds. Let her keep cooking.
If you drink anything with sugar (except some coffee with a reasonable amount in it), you’ll probably see a significant weight loss in a year’s time by cutting it out + no more beer and the above.

Apnea + alcohol are both closely tied to a specific arrhythmia. Some guys get a bit proud and won’t wear their cpap. Make sure to keep that thing on. And if the mask is uncomfortable, there are a whole bunch of options that may work better out there if you go looking

I don't think you need 10 years of schooling to understand 6'0 250 is fat

It’s not as hard as you think. Adding exercise is a big help. After a few weeks of increased exercise and no alcohol you feel so much better you won’t miss the alchohol much. Of course when you go to a large party or a bar with friends, etc the pressure to drink will be the hardest. But is a drunken night you’ll just regret later worth your life?
