Do you respect guys that never work on Friday afternoon?

My old job had deadlines on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Most weeks I worked longer than eight hours on each of those days. Unless I had a meeting or an appointment, I was out of the building by 11:30 am on Friday. I did that for the last 10 years I worked.

Never heard a man on his death bed saying "boy I sure am glad I didn't take any PTO"...... If you're not using your earned benefits it sounds like you're the pussy.

I absolutely take my pto. I used to be one of those who would lose days because work is always busy and I felt I needed to be there. Work was a priority. Not anymore. With age comes wisdom. Take your pto.

The only people that remember you worked late is your family.

Same idea extends to not taking PTO.

Took my 4 y/o to waffle house and then piddled around Walmart to let her pick out lunch/snacks. Went to the park for a while where we eventually ate our picnic. Made a core memory on a random Thursday.

That sounds like an absolutely perfect day. Our son is about to turn 25, married with his own place. He moved about 4 years ago. Our daughter is 18 and slated to start JSU next semester, which means my baby girl is about to move out. I’m so glad I took the time to go to dance classes, cheerleading, pageants, plays, class field trips and just random days like what you described with her through the years. Take every second you can to spend time with your little ones while you can. They’ll be little only once and only for a while.

Yes- take it if you have it. Work sucks and you owe no one anything but you and yours. Take it to spite someone, just take it for any reason.

Maybe he has a home improvement project to work on? Spend time with a little child? Who knows, but I’d give anything to just take a week or day off to spend time with the kids.

We’re a “use it or lose it” company. A couple of years ago, I learned that they don’t really care if you lose it and you don’t earn extra brownie points for doing so. I use mine.

Your job doesn't care at all about you. Even if you died, they would replace you quickly.

Take the time off you moron

Impressive downvote total...

Work-life balance is a thing, but some people dont understand it is a long game.

There may be periods in your career, assuming you're reasonably successful, where work requires an inordinate amount of your time and energy.

As long as this isn't a norm, and doesn't extend for a period of years, and doesn't routinely adversely affect your family, fine.

No one lays on their deathbed wishing they'd spent more time at the office.

Sam Walton was a famous workaholic and at the end, when he realized he hardly knew his family, he regretted it.

If you would otherwise lose it, yes I will take it.
