I just bought shoe polish. I think it was $15 and I'll shine 3 pairs of shoes with it.

I have $600 work boots (real work boots not sit at a desk work boots) and I barely even knock the dirt off them, much less fricking shine them.

The only boots a real man needs is JK Super Dutys.

I can't do the bulbous toe, but I don't knock those who can.

I'm picking up these as a gift to myself

This is the most dumbest shite I’ve ever seen. If you hire based on shined shoes I can’t imagine the efficiency

I've got a 25 year-old pair of Johnson and Murphy Wingtips...those are the only ones that I polish/shine on a regular basis.

About 8 years ago, I had 1 pair of nice Allen Edmonds that were relatively new. They were packed in a suitcase after a work trip. Somehow got mixed in with clothes and one shoe got put in the washing machine and it got wrecked. I did a youtube search on restoring shoes. It opened my eyes to just how resilient a good pair of dress shoes are if you know how to maintain.

Saphir Medaille D'or Renovatuer conditioner and Creme Polish and you can make any shoe look damn near new. A good wax polish and I can mirror shine my black cap toes to go with my tux. It became a hobby for a bit as weird as that is.

I've even bought AE factory seconds since then with dye blemishes that I've stripped away with Renomat and brought shoes to perfect condition and saved hundreds. Even dyed shoes to darker brown when I ended up with too many in the same shade.

I've probably got 6 pairs of AE's now and a few other brands. But my biggest splurge was on some Carmina's. Bad part is since covid, I don't wear dress clothes much for work.

I’ve never spent over $50 for a pair of shoes.

Back in my crazy days working offshore, the experienced (2 months or so ) hands all wore Redwings.

New roustabouts coming on the rigs would come out wearing inexpensive Georgia boots and with a couple of days, the caustic soda would eat away at the sole threads and they'd be working with duct tape holding the soles to the boot.

Also, Redwings would keep you from skating across a wet floor.

I have 3 pairs of the same. It's amazing how long they last. I had other dress shoes before and they would last like 3 years before falling apart.

Didn't Rose Anvil cut apart a set of those and found that they are crap for the money?

I have Justin's and Thorogood work boots, they get a coat of Obenauf's LP every once in a while, haven't shined boots since the Army went away from BDU's.

Yes I have shoes that require shining but in No Way would I drop $50 to get that done.
Affordability isn’t the issue but common sense is.
