Wife (no pics) does. We have agreed that when our horse and pet cow die, the rest of the cattle will be sold and our ranching operation will be closed.
We're getting another Swiss Mountain Dog on the Saturday after Christmas. Our most recent one passed on Labor Day weekend and the house just hasn't been the same without him.

I will always have a dog. and that part was understood long before we ever even began discussing the possibility of marriage many years ago.
anything beyond that is will be negotiated.

Like everything in our 25 year marriage, it's a compromise.
She wants a dog and I don't, so we have a dog.

Me, because I'm going to be the one taking care of them.

I don't get why women scroll the feeds of local shelters seemingly endlessly, begging for the outcome. I didn't agree to either of the f*@ing dumbass dogs ex-wife adopted.

I’ve got a dog that I had before I was in our relationship, and we just adopted a little kitten. I think we’re at our limit of 1 and 1, we may consider getting another little dog in time but our dog is already a jealous bitch at times
. the cat and dog have become best friends which has been really helpful for our dog.

One of the idiot dogs she adopted would forget who I was in the middle of carrying in groceries. As in, between trips to the truck, where the idiot could see me 100% of the time.
My cat went back to live with the two idiot dogs at the kids' request, and he loves to torture the chihuahua-ish dog, because the cat weighs a pound or two more than the dog.

We both lost family pets from our teenage years in the past few years. We decided no more pets until our daughter begs us for one.

We lost our big (30lbs and 60lbs) dogs within about 6 weeks of each other back in August and September 2019. In November, we both decided to start perusing the rescue sites after I convinced her that we did not in fact want to pay for a pure bred dog, and DEFINITELY not a Doodle (our yard/lifestyle isn't conducive to Doodles). Thanksgiving Week, I got home from work one day and was greeted with this little guy
It was 'just a trial'
When we brought her home, he found his bark, and now they're the best security system money can buy.
Every time we consider a third one, we have a vet bill, which quickly talks us out of a third one. Two is plenty, we both agree.

Wife and kids teamed up against me and, well…….they got what they wanted.

Precious babies. We adopted a small chihuahua after our last one died last year.

I do.
And that number is zero.
Which is why we have two.

This is where I'm at for the time being.
When I'm ready (if I'm ever?), I don't think it will be an argument or anything. However, I'm not ready. shite was very hard.
Do y'all not have any kitties right now? I think I recall that you both like them.
Yes, it is SO hard. I'm sort of the opposite or I was this last time. The last several years, I had two kitties. Last year, I lost one of them and I debated about getting another one, but the surviving kitty was 16 and she finally was okay without her former mate. I was concerned that she might not like a new kitty and it might cause her stress. This year, same month as last year, she passed away with the same kidney issues older cats can get. We said goodbye on a Monday. I couldn't stand it. By Friday, I adopted a 3 or 4 year old calico. Those days felt like months. Feels more normal around here having a kitty. I'm still debating whether to get the new kitty a friend for when no one is here.

My husband. He raises hunting dogs. It's more of me saying, "hey, the pet bill can't go over xx per month" lol...

Each member of the family contributes to the decision since we all participate in pet care.
